Derek Ellard shares nostalgic single ‘Three Sheets To The Wind’

February 10, 2023

After a slew of releases in 2021, Derek returns with a record full of positivity and quirk

‘Three sheets to the wind’ punctuates the emboldened return of Derek and his cohorts for 2023, the first single from his upcoming five track EP now titled simply ‘The Future Business Model’ is a playful reminisce of Derek’s formative years in Tipperary. A thank you to family and friends in Derek’s discernible style, compassionate while satirical.

Once again produced and mixed in house by Derek and Joe ‘Three Sheets to the Wind’ is drenched in nostalgia and alcohol. A folk rock earworm with all the twists and turns you’ve come to expect from a band still expanding creatively.

Alt/folk/Rock based in Galway, Ireland, sounds like ‘Pinegrove’ ‘Phoebe Bridgers’ ‘The Frames’ ‘Band of horses’ ‘Fleet foxes’. Music that is as deliberately challenging as it is intoxicating. Often hysterical, invariably restless but principally honest. Produced, recorded and released, in conjunction with Joseph Padfield (Bannered mare) under the Umbrella Records collective.

“it signals his return to action in considerable style, aided and abetted by a killer band with serious chops…an intoxicating brew of folk and post rock that’s peppered with a little bit of prog Hotpress, Edwin McFee

“the sound of an artist who has honed his craft and got his shit together, which is always something to celebrate” Notbad.ie

“they shake and stir the foundations of conventional acoustic singer songwriting with harmonies, poly-rhythms and beautiful guitar based syncopation” Sea Sessions
