Irish Musician Dermot Kennedy has today been announced as one of ten Artists included on the BBC Sound of 2019 Longlist. The BBC Sound of list aims to showcase the most exciting rising stars in music and has previously tipped Sigrid, Years & Years, Haim, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding and Adele. The top 5 Artists from the longlist will be announced in January, 2019.
2018 has been a phenomenal year both home and abroad for the Irish Artist. Having sold over 75,000 tickets across a worldwide tour, Dermot played sold out headline shows in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre and Vicar street and had one of the most talked about performances at this year’s Electric Picnic.
His music continues to rack up phenomenal streaming stats with over 300 Million global streams, including over 1.2 million streams for his latest single “Power Over Me”.
In addition to the BBC Sound of 2019 list, Dermot Kennedy has also been included on Youtube Music’s ‘Ones To Watch 2019’, NPR’s Slingshot Artist of 2018, Ticketmaster New For 2019 shortlist, MTV Push One’s To Watch 2019 and RTE 2FM’s Rising List 2018.
