Emerging Irish Alternative Rock Artist Kate Field set to release fierce debut single ‘Legacy’ on August 2nd

July 29, 2024

Kate Field is a singer-songwriter based in Dublin, Ireland. She began writing as a teen and now at just 24 continues finding inspiration in human nature, collecting self-reflections and expressing the experiences of others. She creates her own world of truth, heartache, highs and lows. Kate’s clever melancholic wordplay is often offset by optimistic melodies with a layer of sarcasm and cynicism throughout. Love, lust, romance, reticence and regret, her songs are eternally relatable for those intent on coming of age recklessly.

Kate cites Lana Del ReyThe Police, Alanis MorissetteBilly Joel and Arctic Monkeys as key influences on her writing.

She has performed at several venues in Dublin, including Smock Alley TheatreCrowbar Terrace, and International Bar. She has also participated in the Zodiac Sessions and the Smithfield Creative Sessions. Kate is preparing to release her debut single, ‘Legacy’ which is the first track from her upcoming EP, ‘And The Persian Rugs’ scheduled for release next month.

Legacy’ was penned as a response to Kate’s friend who grappled with an insatiable thirst for fame and success, ultimately leading to a detrimental spiral as he placed these aspirations above all else. As Kate crafted the song, she came to a profound realization that many of us are prone to this inclination. We often perceive ourselves as mere symbols or ideals, neglecting our humanity in pursuit of leaving behind a noteworthy ‘legacy’ rather than savouring the richness of life.

“In the lyrics ‘to walk like a Marilyn, to talk like a Kennedy’ I wanted to imply that we all want to be perceived as attractive yet powerful with a story that stands the tests of time”. Kate Fields

‘Legacy’ was recorded in Beadfire Studios in Dublin and was produced by Rohan Healy and Al Quiff. It is the lead single from Kate’s upcoming debut EP ‘And The Persian Rugs’.
