Chris Wong announces his New Single “She Stays West” alongside his scenic Co. Mayo Visualiser

“Wong’s trademark alluring soundscapes are richly textured with soul, R&B and jazz flavours that compliment his smooth and sultry cadence” HotPress

“His relaxing tracks are a synthesis of easy listening beats and personal lyrics about Dublin and being a young, mixed raced, creative, with all the ups and downs that accompany that” NewSoundsMag

About the single…

Chris Wong releases his brand new track ‘She Stays West’. The Irish/Hong-Kongese 25 year-olds first release after a whirlwind end to 2023. Captivating audiences at a sold out debut headline show in London, music festivals aplenty (Forbidden Fruit, All Together Now, Other Voices) and even a debut appearance in America for SofarSounds.

‘She Stays West’, recorded at The Clinic Recording Studios alongside David Curley (The Cope), comes from a fruitful session bearing contributions from Rob de Boer (Papa Romeo, FRANK ZING), Louis Younge (Bricknasty, Sky Atlas) and Dan Coyne (Cooks But We’re Chefs, Papa Romeo).

‘She Stays West’ came about during a time of complete stillness for Wong. In 2020, he spent several months living on the West coast of Ireland in a tiny townless area in rural Mayo, Killadoon. With poetic, passionate contemplations of a life of peace, serenity and soulful living outside of his native city of Dublin, Chris was compelled to write. Wong’s fourth single promises an unparalleled sonic journey that resonates deeply with listeners.

Chris explains, “I wrote this the day I moved back to Dublin, inspired by the tranquil nature and pace of life out West. The lyrics are written as if it were a love song about a girl, but listen closely and you’ll understand the metaphor. I wanted the story to be something everyone could relate to so I opted to hide its meaning, ‘Easy on the eye if you could see her, I know she ain’t my type but that’s alright. Sun is coming out, she’s getting sweeter, what I see is all mine.’

What’s next for Chris?

Venturing across the Atlantic, Wong is set to grace stages in the United States this Summer, catching audiences with his magnetic stage presence and spellbinding performances. Having previously shared the limelight with the likes of Olivia Dean, Wong’s star continues to ascend, solidifying his position as a rising luminary within the music industry.

A seasoned performer, Wong has graced the stages of numerous major Irish festivals, captivating audiences with his eclectic sound. His anticipated appearances at these festivals this summer promise to be nothing short of extraordinary, as Wong brings his unique blend of indie and soul fusion to the forefront of the Irish music scene.

With a string of singles paving the way, Chris Wong is building momentum for his debut EP set to drop this Autumn. Keep your ears peeled for more of Wong’s distinctive sound in the year ahead.

Critically acclaimed Irish artist Niamh Regan shares new Song ‘Nice’

“…Ready to pull us into a world of acutely observed vulnerabilities and introspection, the upcoming album is set to showcase a bold evolution of Regan’s sound” – EARMILK

“Niamh Regan is the real deal btw. A songwriter. a WRITER of SONGS. new stuff is somehow sounding even better. raising the bar and doing it FLAWLESSLY” – CMAT

“There’s a touch of Laura Marling in her voice, something of John Martyn in her intonation and Nick Drake in her guitar picking, the influence of everyone from Jeff Tweedy to Josh Ritter in her crafted storytelling – and yes, Lankum in her use of drones on songs such as “Madonna” and “Mortgage.” – 8/10 UNCUT Magazine

Critically acclaimed Irish artist Niamh Regan will soon share her sophomore album ‘Come As You Are’ on vinyl, CD, and digital 31st May 2024 via Faction Records.

EARMILK says “…ready to pull us into a world of acutely observed vulnerabilities and introspection, the upcoming album is set to showcase a bold evolution of Regan’s sound”, and UNCUT reviews the album “there’s a touch of Laura Marling in her voice, something of John Martyn in her intonation and Nick Drake in her guitar picking, the influence of everyone from Jeff Tweedy to Josh Ritter in her crafted storytelling 8/10.

Niamh shares the third single from the album today (18th April 2024), ‘Nice’, and of the song, she says Nice is song inspired by the idea the only person getting in your way is yourself (most of the time anyway). I really enjoyed how this song came to life in the studio with Tommy McLaughlin in Attica Studios. The bass line gave it so much life and it’s now one of my favourite songs to perform live now.” Listen here: https://factionrecords.lnk.to/Nice

Coinciding with the new single, Niamh launches a range of limited edition “I’m Too Nice” merchandise, available to purchase online now: https://irishmusicmarket.com/collections/niamh-regan

Niamh Regan’s 2020 debut album ‘Hemet’ introduced her as an artist with a gift for crafting folk-tinged songs with a quiet, reflective intensity. The release started to make waves and achieved over 1 million streams on Spotify and led to nominations for both the RTÉ Folk Awards and the Choice Music Prize ‘Album of the Year’.

Since its release, Niamh has embarked on headline tours from Ireland, to UK, Australia, Spain + more. Pairing this with many festivals and a variety of support opportunities with artist such as CMAT, Villagers, John Grant, SOAK, Patrick Watson, Sam Amidon, Cormac Begley, and Sorcha Richardson.

In between her performances, Niamh began to write her second record in Attica Studios with producer Tommy McLaughlin. She says ‘I arrived in Donegal to meet Tommy for the first time with a bunch of demos, half-baked ideas and feeling not ready, it was scary. But I’m so glad that I did it that way. Trusted the process and came into the studio with the intention of capturing exactly where I was with it all and Tommy helped me build from there.’

And here we are, with the upcoming release of that second album, titled ‘Come As You Are’. It’s an album full of acutely observed vulnerabilities and introspection. Its themes are the issues that many of us find loom large in the small hours: questions of self-doubt, uncertainty about your life’s direction, whether relationships are flourishing in the way you’d hoped and determining priorities.

“A lot of it is about being in your late twenties and kind of realising we’re all running out of time,” she ponders. “I’d have bouts of massive self-belief in the studio, and then in the next breath I would be like, ‘This is the worst piece of music I could have even imagined.’ It was a rollercoaster. But through that I found self-acceptance; this is where I’m at and making peace with that. That’s what the album essentially is, just making peace with where I’m at and being realistic with myself.”

Niamh’s goal for the record was to achieve a richer, full live band sound, inspired by her love of Julia Jacklin, Caroline Rose, and especially Wilco. While there are moments of intimacy, the songs on ‘Come As You Are’ are far grander in scale and ambition than those on ‘Hemet’.

She has a contagious passion for performing live, having recently completed tours of Ireland, Switzerland, Spain, the UK, and supporting CMAT in the EU. Niamh explains the joy of releasing new music for her is performing it to a live audience, “It’s the best feeling and I think I’ll be chasing it for the rest of my life.”

And that’s a feeling that ‘Come As You Are’ will help her tap into. It’s an album which is a confident step forward, full of songs with the spark to come alive on stage and with the immediacy to beckon newcomers into her world.

Pre-order Niamh Regan’s album ‘Come As You Are’, out 31st May 2024 via Faction Records.

Anelise Furkin – Vocal
Taylor Bailey – Guitar
Aido Kimura Mooney- Bass
Kaelan Zipoli – Piano
Keith “KJ” Jordan – Drums

Their Influences come from jazz, neo-soul and samba – but don’t expect anything to sound like it “should”. Lavery’s headline show on the 1st of May celebrates the release of their new single ‘What I Want.’

Living Things
Living Things celebrate life’s many dimensions with a soulful blend of afrobeat, neo-soul and progressive R&B. At its core, the band is a collaboration between Segun Akano (Yankari Afrobeat Collective, Akano Rhythm Brothers), Morgan Baker (Louisiana 6, Pop Republic Collective), and emerging solo artist Ṣelu. Things started one evening during lock-down in Dublin’s North Strand when Morgan and Segun met up for a jam. By the end of the night, they had recorded an instrumental track and just needed to add a vocalist. On a whim, Segun sent the track to Ṣelu. Ṣelu (pronounced “Sheh-lu”) who returned the track after adding his voice along with lyrics about how music can illuminate even the most sullen moments. Before the trio had even met, they had their debut track: “ I See Sounds”! The band debuted at Signs of Life Festival in September 2021 and their first single ‘SISE’ (sometimes it’s so easy) was released in November 2023. They released their second single ‘Even If’ shortly after, featuring London singer songwriter Xei Audi 27 January 2024.

Dublin artist Tommy Cullen to release Debut Album ‘Enjoy the Glow’ Friday April 19th

Named “one of the most promising singer-songwriters in the country” by Hot Press, Dublin artist Tommy Cullen brings a unique voice and vulnerable lyricism to his deeply layered indie sound on long-awaited debut album Enjoy the Glow.

The 10-track collection is the culmination of Cullen’s creative life to date, exploring the past few years through tales of everyday drudgery, true love, UFO sightings and trips to Ikea. Created in collaboration with London-based producer Marcus Jay, Enjoy the Glow is a deeply personal record incorporating vocal contributions from close family and friends, along with an enigmatic watercolour cover by Tommy himself. The broad palette of indie sounds on display take influence from alternative/slacker music, bedroom pop pioneers and the classic ‘70s and 80s albums of his parents’ record collection.

As Tommy explained in his recent appearance on the Souls in Harmony podcast, “I think everybody needs something that’s going to get them through life… There’s so much pain in the world, and you can get very overwhelmed… One way, for me, is playing music and writing songs, where I can maybe access some of that emotion in a way that allows me to still go about my day when I put the guitar down and have to do other things”.

Enjoy the Glow will be available to stream and download everywhere from 19th April, and can be purchased on CD or Vinyl from tommycullenmusic.com. Tommy is set to support Aslan for their Galway show in Monroe’s on the 20th, before returning to Dublin for his biggest-ever headline show in the Sound House on the 26th – backed by the TC AllStar Band, with special guest Siobhán Franks. Tickets are now available at thesoundhouse.ie

“Cullen’s ability to express a range of emotion through minimalist arrangements is mesmerising.” IndieBuddie

“It’s clear that Cullen has an immense passion for writing music. Each of his songs drips with emotion, courage, and empathy.” Paul Downey, DeMars Magazine

“Tommy’s vocals penetrate your chest and pull at your heart strings.” Dave McMahon, Bayview Sounds

Irish session-musician, producer, and multi-instrumentalist David Murphy set to release stunning Debut Album April 19th

Rollercoaster Records label is delighted to release a stunning full-length album ‘Cuimhne Ghlinn: Explorations in Irish Music for Pedal Steel Guitar’ by Irish session-musician, producer, and multi-instrumentalist David Murphy on Friday, April 19th.

The album has received an impressive 8/10 from UNCUT, who describe the sounds as “Irish traditional rendered ghostly by washes of pedal steel and almost subliminal piano… widescreen and structured, like an early Celtic Ólafur Arnalds”. SONGLINES lauds it as a “sonic experiment of narcotic enchantment… blossoming with old world charm in luminous modernity,” earning it the title of Top of the World and Album of the Month. According to THE GUARDIAN, it’s “an intriguing proposition… very moving, at times oddly Balearic, the Hawaiian roots of his warm pitch-shifting instrument spangling through.” KLOF Magazine praises it as “an incredibly confident debut album. Balanced against its elegance and the dreamlike sound of his pedal steel is a quietly adventurous spirit that is beautifully judged and unpretentious — an extraordinarily great album.” HOT PRESS describes it as “serene instrumentals to transport listeners to a world of peace and luminous tranquillity.”

David Murphy – Citi na gCumann (Official Video)

David Murphy – Bridget Cruise (Official Video)

Murphy’s all-instrumental debut album recasts ancient Irish harp tunes and historic airs by O’Carolan, O’Riada et al into the 21st century, voiced by the mysterious, emotive and swelling sound of the pedal steel guitar. Supported by an all-star cast of musicians from across contemporary, modern-classical and folk worlds, the pedal steel ably takes its place within an ensemble featuring cello, violin, piano, harp, uilleann pipes, and lush electronic textures and synths. Across 40 minutes, the album conjures a palette of sparse, dreamlike, atmospheric soundscapes and stirring, cinematic takes of these culturally significant compositions and melodies from Ireland’s great harpers, composers, and song collectors.

The album is a must-listen for fans of pedal steel guitar, atmospheric soundtracks, traditional Irish music, contemporary experimental, ambient and modern-classical music. It features a diverse cast of supporting musicians including Peter Broderick (Strings), Steve Wickham (Fiddle), Laura McFadden (Cello), Aisling Urwin and Alannah Thornburgh (Harp), Rory McCarthy (Piano), Mark McCausland (Guitar), Anthony Ruby (Uilleann Pipes), Cory Gray (Trumpet) amongst others.

On his vision for the album, Murphy says:

“The pedal steel guitar has unique timbre, tuning and tonal capabilities. It offers rich sustain, swelling glissando and the ability to bend expressive and mournful notes that merge seamlessly and elastically into changing chords. Its unmistakable, crying sound is identified on hundreds of acclaimed records in folk and country genres. In the 21st century, it has continued its evolution into electronica, ambient and experimental music realms. With this record, my objective was to take the instrument away from its excursions across well-worn roads through the dusty American south and southwest and deeper into a world much closer to home and, for the very first time, present it in a modern Irish framework.”

Murphy’s unique application of the evocative and ever-mysterious pedal steel guitar has resulted in his invitation to participate in many collaborations and projects over his years as a session musician and band-member. Taking the instrument outside the confines of its traditional roots, Murphy has accumulated a growing list of recording and live credits. He can regularly be seen and heard on stage and in the studio with diverse Irish artists such as The Lost Brothers, John Blek & The Rats, Arborist, Cian Nugent, Ordnance Survey, Greenshine and The Remedy Club amongst others as well as touring or performing alongside acclaimed international artists such as Willy Vlautin, The Delines, Richmond Fontaine, M. Ward, and Jolie Holland.

Blurring the boundaries of music into which Murphy has taken the instrument, he has contributed to records across a range of genres, spanning pop, Americana and folk to ambient, experimental music and film soundtracks. David has also participated in tours of Ireland, UK, Europe, and U.S.A. as well as performing on live national radio and television.

Out Friday  19th April 2024 on Rollercoaster Records presented visually with stunning artwork by Irish artist Craig Carry, ‘Cuimhne Ghlinn: Explorations in Irish Music for Pedal Steel Guitar’ is available on 180-gram Vinyl, CD, and Digital, from all major platforms and retailers.

New Jackson set to release new Album ‘OOPS!… POP’ this Friday April 19th

NEW JACKSON marks his long-awaited follow-up to 2017’s From Night To Night with its successor OOPS!… POP for long-time collaborators Permanent Vacation. The new LP is due out on vinyl/cd/digital on 19th April 2024. A concise triumph in techno pop, its 9 tracks elevate his signature electronic sounds into anthemic new heights.

David Kitt is a prolific sonic polymath who’s enjoyed a colourful career making whatever he likes. While releasing music under a vast array of aliases and collaborations for close to two and a half decades, New Jackson has remained his irregular home since 2011 for when ‘at one with the machines’. It offers a kaleidoscopic window into his love of dance music, and on his debut album under the alias From Night To Night (released in 2017 on Dublin’s All City label) he unfurled his singular vision; a dilated suite of nocturnal soul coaxed from his beloved electronic equipment with songwriter’s nous, sonically etched as blunted whispers coalesced from the dusky billows of Dublin Bay. Further EPs and singles followed, alongside a beloved live show he toured globally, plus detours with his critically-lauded Garies duo (with Lumigraph) and a David Kitt solo album.

In the time since his New Jackson debut, he has slowly distilled his studio methodology to help mine the true core of his musical self. Within this experimentation, he has stumbled upon the bounty that is OOPS!… POP, his most direct and euphoric body of work to date. Recorded across the span of five years and three different countries, Kitt has managed to transform his beloved alias into a leaner beast, tightening the screws around arrangements and songwriting to inspire an album sonically effortless in demeanour and spontaneously playful in structure and form. Aided by a stacked cast of collaborators including Rita Lynn, Donnacha Costello, Riche “Jape” Egan, Yenkee, Kean Kavanagh, Margie Jean Lewis, Meg Cronin and Fehdah, it bears the hallmarks of the studio albums of yesteryear in its dynamism and gratification while drawing on his rich bouquet of influences across a century of recorded music.

Opener SI SI SI lulls you in with its smothered vocoder’d croons and patient groove, BURNT DEEP next yields a surprising deep house turn, lit gently with casual hedonism. LIKE rewires the playbook entirely, shuffling along its minimal 80’s boogie groove with a cheeky grin, before lead single OUT OF REACH further mines the golden pastures with its glorious stuttering techno power-pop fit with that anthemic chorus. DAY IN SHOCK digi-dubs around the wonderful vocal turn of Fehdah in purest heads-down manner, then THE OK HOLE and STROBE both descend the psychedelic wormhole of anaesthetised breaks and electro with its entranced dancefloor gaze. I WANNA BE ADORED, the Madchester anthem from The Stone Roses, is then surprisingly reimagined as a lost kraut-pop robo sung classic while WITH THE NIGHT AT OUR FEET is our climactic conclusion, a mechanised symphony of dual proportions, a humane core of angelic harmonies chugging along in electro rhythm before soaring strings take us on our way.

New Jackson’s oeuvre, indeed David Kitt’s musical world, is vast; OOPS!… POP then might just be his opus across it all, a towering achievement of soaring catharsis in melody and song that soundtracks the most direct transmissions from his heart to yours.

OOPS!… POP by New Jackson is out on vinyl/digital/CD 19th April 2024 via Permanent Vacation. Pre-order on Bandcamp: https://newjackson.bandcamp.com/album/oops-pop or via Spindizzy: https://spindizzyrecords.com/products/new-jackson-oops-pop-lp-vinyl

Also coming May 24th, is a reissue of David Kitt’s 2006 release Not Fade Away, featuring 8 tracks from the original record lovingly remastered, a re-recording of Say No More and a brand new song Love Someone Else featuring Niamh Regan. Pre-order on vinyl: https://spindizzyrecords.com/products/david-kitt-not-fade-away-2024-edition-lp-180g-vinyl

Emerging Singer Songwriter Sean Healy set to release new Single ‘Blues and Greens’ May 3rd

“Tell Me Now Cecilia’ follows in the footsteps of the great narrators and songwriters, focusing only on the tale and accompanied just with acoustic guitar.”Hot Press

Sean Healy is an emerging singer-songwriter who spins deep truths in simple and hard-hitting verses, wrapped in enticing and smooth music that takes the listener on a journey that leaves them reflecting and refreshed.

“Blues and Greens” is no different. It catches the listener straight away and invites them to join a journey of struggle and triumph, as well as revelation of new insights and vision. It is an almost abstract guide on how to move beyond difficulties or worries and leave their grasp behind.

“For me this song is about not being bound by worries or concerns to put it in simple terms. You could also say it’s about leaving behind all the pictures or notions that we have of ourselves and seeing what’s left.” Sean Healy says of the song.

The singer is from Dublin, Ireland where his intimate and powerful performances could be seen regularly over the last few years. He has travelled further afield in the last few months and has played in other parts of Europe and in Asia.

Indie rock band Pillow Queens dive into intoxicating feelings with punchy, cathartic track and official video “Heavy Pour”

Today, acclaimed indie rock band Pillow Queens dive into intoxicating feelings with punchy, cathartic track and official videoHeavy Pourout now ahead of their LP release this Friday, April 19. The band’s triumphant third studio album Name Your Sorrow is due out April 19 and available for pre-order now. This June, Pillow Queens will perform live across the UK and will support Snow Patrol in Limerick, IR on July 12 ahead of their biggest show to date on July 13 at Dublin, Ireland’s Iveagh Gardens. Tickets are on sale now for all shows via pillowqueens.com/live.

Out today, the band share the honest, searing “Heavy Pour,” a track that lays the foundation for a story of unshakable conviction in the face of doubt and feeling inadequate. Sonically, lead guitarist and vocalist Cathy McGuinness shares, “It feels like a bit of a bizarre journey or a fever dream.” Opening with a passionately punchy vibe, twangy distorted guitars and open strings, it gets progressively heavier before a cathartic release. McGuinness says, “The guitar becomes more palatable in the middle eight, totally contradicting the previous section of discordant chaos. It then falls into a glorious half time with ‘oohs’ to support the instruments, giving a feeling of clarity and resolve before snapping back to the chorus.” Lyrically, lead vocalist, guitarist and bassist Pamela Connelly adds, “A lot of the lines in this song could convey the typical sweetness of a love song, but it has brief moments of outside perspectives that cast doubt over the conviction represented. The song tries to show the “heavy pour” as a compulsion that while having moments of joy, ultimately heightens personal insecurities.”

The band also touches on gender and common misconceptions with the line, “I want more, but I’m not man enough.” Vocalist, guitarist and bassist Sarah Corcoran says talk regarding that line has sparked conversations about gender, particularly the tendency to equate masculinity with bravery. “Intrigued by this dynamic, we wanted to delve into and dissect the idea that one’s gender expression is impacted by their perceived level of courage. Spoiler: it’s not. All genders can be courageous and/or scared.

The track’s accompanying video, directed by Kate Dolan, is inspired by old silent films like The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari, Faust and Nosferatu. The idea for the video came immediately to Dolan upon hearing the track. Dolan says, “The song felt like a haunting and I felt the video needed to be something quite stylistic. I came up with the idea of the music video being a long lost silent film that has never been seen, a haunted piece of art buried in an attic somewhere. Then, as the band performs the cursed film is purged, burning up. The band are always up for having some fun so the shoot was a lot of fun and we played a lot on set.”

The spooky video was aptly shot at Glenmaroon House in Dublin. The Tudor-style Edwardian mansion, dating back to the 1850s and once owned by a member of the Guinness family, exuded an eerie charm perfectly suited for the video’s aesthetic.

The band was thrilled to reunite with Dolan and adds, This video shoot stands out as our favourite one to date. We were excited to make our acting debut as dead people and we think we’ve really pulled it off. The exceptional work of the makeup and costume team, combined with the outstanding efforts of the entire crew made for a wonderful day.”

Last month, Pillow Queens shared the guitar-driven, 90s soft rock “Like A Lesson” explores longing for intimacy and a desire for closeness as well as the fears and insecurities that come with sharing one’s self. On the raw subject matter, the band says the track dives into, “The notion of finding safety and comfort in the presence of love of limerence is emphasized, contrasting with the paralyzing fear of making mistakes or ruining your life or someone else’s. It delves into the feeling of being a lesson for someone, a side character in someone else’s story.” Atwood Magazine raved about the track, writing, The fire burns bold and bright on Pillow Queens’ “Like a Lesson,” an irresistible eruption of raw passion, desire, insecurity and fear that sees the Irish indie rock band unpacking a familiar, feverish state of unbridled, all-consuming infatuation.”

The band’s triumphant third full-length album Name Your Sorrow finds the group at their most vulnerable and self-assured as they explore themes of queerness, insecurity, desire and heartbreak as well as the positivity and strength that can grow from pain. Produced by Collin Pastore (Lucy Dacus, boygenius) at Analogue Catalogue in Northern Ireland, the collection sees the group chart new territory as they give fans an all new, uninhibited look at both their artistry and humanity. With masterful instrumentation and raw lyricism, the quartet immerse listeners in a robust, emotionally-charged sonic world like never before.

Each of the twelve tracks peel back an additional layer of the human condition, from grief to joy and everything in between, culminating in a collective catharsis–a newfound sense of strength and hope in a greater sense of self. With moments of harmony and contradiction, McGuinness calls the album one of intensity, loneliness and love. “It is about stages of love, loss and grief and how they can all exist alongside one another–intertwined, messy, beautiful–how both love and loss can coexist.” Tucked away in the quiet Irish countryside, the group bonded deeply, laughing, cooking for each other and playing games which resulted in a safe, supportive environment that allowed each musician to experiment, mess up, and try again. Pillow Queens credit Irish poet Eavan Bolan, English poet John Keats, and British writer C.S. Lewis among their literary inspirations during the writing process, and musically, influences range from Vampire Weekend to Barbra Streisand to Frank Ocean, Tool and Lana Del Rey.

Formed in 2016, Pillow Queens–made up of Pamela Connolly (lead vocals, guitar, bass), Sarah Corcoran (vocals, guitar, bass), Cathy McGuinness (vocals, lead guitar) and Rachel Lyons (vocals, drums)–burst onto the scene with their debut demo EP Calm Girls, leading to a string of UK and Irish dates and festival appearances. The release of their follow up EP State of the State prompted Hot Press to write the band is, “currently lauded by any critic worth their salt.” Their debut album In Waiting arrived in 2020 and received praise from The Guardian, who called them “2020’s most exciting indie rockers,NPR, NME, and The Line of Best Fit, they were named a Band To Watch by Stereogum, received an Irish Album of The Year nomination and made their first U.S. national television appearance remotely on the Late Late Show with James Corden.

Taking the world by storm, the band went on to tour North America, UK and Europe, play at SXSW and open for IDLES, Pavement, and later, Phoebe Bridgers in Glasgow. Upon the 2022 release of their sophomore album Leave The Light On, Pitchfork wrote, “Pillow Queens make the kind of noise that tends to flourish live, roared back by the faithful: burnished heartland euphoria, defiant lyricism bolstered by ragged harmonies, lashings of pride, and an unabashed love of crescendos.” The Guardian added, “Sonically, the album evokes the work of Americana-influenced alt-rock musicians such as Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten and even the Killers – a sound that is both epically transcendent and comfortingly gritty.” DIY Magazine raved about the band’s evolution, stating, “‘Leave The Light On’ swaps this sense of personal heritage for introspection, pairing delicate self-reflection with sounds far grander than their previous release,” and the band once again received an Irish Album Of The Year nomination, as well as made their debut in-person late night TV show appearance, once again on the Late Late Show with James Corden. Now, in 2024, fueled by an elevated sound and unflinching honesty, Pillow Queens are prepared to ascend to new heights.

With mesmerizing guitar riffs and hypnotizing harmonies, the stirring, resonant “Heavy Pour” out now explores the fleeting moments of beauty, love and joy mixed with the inevitable flares of insecurity and fear. The third studio album by Pillow Queens, Name Your Sorrow, is due out this Friday, April 19 and available for pre-order now. Experience Pillow Queens live across the UK this June, opening for Snow Patrol in July and later, at their biggest show to date at Iveagh Gardens in Dublin on July 13 with tickets on sale now here.
