Dublin artist Tommy Cullen to release Debut Album ‘Enjoy the Glow’ Friday April 19th

April 17, 2024

Named “one of the most promising singer-songwriters in the country” by Hot Press, Dublin artist Tommy Cullen brings a unique voice and vulnerable lyricism to his deeply layered indie sound on long-awaited debut album Enjoy the Glow.

The 10-track collection is the culmination of Cullen’s creative life to date, exploring the past few years through tales of everyday drudgery, true love, UFO sightings and trips to Ikea. Created in collaboration with London-based producer Marcus Jay, Enjoy the Glow is a deeply personal record incorporating vocal contributions from close family and friends, along with an enigmatic watercolour cover by Tommy himself. The broad palette of indie sounds on display take influence from alternative/slacker music, bedroom pop pioneers and the classic ‘70s and 80s albums of his parents’ record collection.

As Tommy explained in his recent appearance on the Souls in Harmony podcast, “I think everybody needs something that’s going to get them through life… There’s so much pain in the world, and you can get very overwhelmed… One way, for me, is playing music and writing songs, where I can maybe access some of that emotion in a way that allows me to still go about my day when I put the guitar down and have to do other things”.

Enjoy the Glow will be available to stream and download everywhere from 19th April, and can be purchased on CD or Vinyl from tommycullenmusic.com. Tommy is set to support Aslan for their Galway show in Monroe’s on the 20th, before returning to Dublin for his biggest-ever headline show in the Sound House on the 26th – backed by the TC AllStar Band, with special guest Siobhán Franks. Tickets are now available at thesoundhouse.ie

“Cullen’s ability to express a range of emotion through minimalist arrangements is mesmerising.” IndieBuddie

“It’s clear that Cullen has an immense passion for writing music. Each of his songs drips with emotion, courage, and empathy.” Paul Downey, DeMars Magazine

“Tommy’s vocals penetrate your chest and pull at your heart strings.” Dave McMahon, Bayview Sounds
