Johnny McDaid and Fontaines D.C. nominated for Ivor Novello Awards 2023

Congratulations to IMRO members Johnny McDaid and Fontaines D.C. who are shortlisted for the Ivor Novello Awards 2023.
Johnny McDaid is shortlisted for two Ivor Novello Awards today for his collaborations with Ed Sheeran on ‘Shivers’ and ‘Bad Habits’, in the the Most Performed Work in the UK last year category. ‘Bad Habits’ was written in collaboration with Sheeran and Fred Again, while Shivers was a co-write with Kal Lavelle and Steve Mac. The tracks are nominated alongside the Kate Bush classic ‘Running Up That Hill’, Glass Animals ‘Heat Waves’, written by Dave Bayley, and Harry Styles ‘As It Was’, written by Kid Harpoon, Tyler Johnson and Harry Styles.
Fontaines D.C. are nominated in the Best Album Category for their third album ‘Skinty Fia’, released in April 2022. The band are up against Little Simz ‘No Thank You’, SAULT ’11’, Arctic Monkeys ‘The Car’, and Obongjayar ‘Some Nights I Dream Of Doors’.
Presented to British and Irish songwriters and screen composers by The Ivors Academy since 1956, each winner receives a hand-crafted Ivor Novello statuette and joins a roll call of greats that includes Adele, Stormzy, Cathy Dennis, Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse, Dave, Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Joan Armatrading.
Ivor Novellos are judged by acclaimed songwriters and composers from The Ivors Academy and awarded for creative excellence. This peer recognition makes the awards so special and respected. The award winners will be announced on Thursday 18th May 2023 at the Grosvenor House in London.
