Hugely exciting emerging electro-pop artist DOLLFACE set to unleash fierce and infectious new single ‘Love Me Better’ October 27th

Irish singer-songwriter, DOLLFACE (aka Caela Murphy) explores the depth of emotion through her music.

Through dark themes and melodic pop-ballads, she connects with listeners by expressing personal experiences on a deep level through her music.

DOLLFACE is also an award-winning composer for film music, rising on the scene of film production since 2019.

A multi-instrumentalist, she began her music journey growing up on the Irish trad scene with concertina, flute, bodhran and tin-whistle. However, she found her love in the piano as a child, achieving distinction in grade 8 piano forte with the Royal Irish Academy of Music in later years. When first performing live, DOLLFACE stood with herself and her guitar as a young teen, gigging around the Waterford area. Since those years, she has developed as an artist and has studied all sorts of music from classical, to jazz, to contemporary music.

DOLLFACE’s style and music has changed over the years and continues to do so in this journey of creativity.

Love Me Better – DOLLFACE’ is an electronic pop song that delves into the theme of moving on and letting go, while learning to love oneself.

It is a song that lyrically reflects on the past, referring to a toxic relationship which is now being let go of.

Produced by Richard Power, the song is brought to life with electronic effects and soundscapes, which add an uplifting energy to the overall mix.

Polly Barrett releases new single ‘Following Her Truth’ October 20

Following the release of her third album Sapling be.. to critical acclaim West Cork based songwriter Polly Barrett releases the third single, ‘Following Her Truth’, from it on October 20, 2023. ‘Following Her Truth’ follows the success of singles ‘Huge Mistake’ and ‘Sapling Be’ and is the third instalment from the auto-biographical album that sees Polly discuss motherhood, love, loss and finding one’s peace.

With two studio albums to her credit Polly Barrett is no stranger to the creative process of writing and recording albums. However, it took the birth of her son and her rebirth as an artist for Polly to find her authentic truth. Recorded in her home in West Cork Sapling be… is fully dedicated to her son who came up with name itself as he strummed the guitar as a toddler. Saturated in Polly’s new home life the record is imbued with her struggles as writer’s block got its angry claws into her and the ethereal, meditative peace she found and made for herself in West Cork as she navigates the path of motherhood.

Speaking on the album Polly Barrett says, “The great thing about ageing is how much you learn about life as you go. In my 20s I thought I knew everything, but it wasn’t until I had my son at 31 that the real learning began. Our children can be little mirrors, showing us our weaknesses and our strengths, our patterns and our pitfalls. Before I became a mother I thought I would teach my child everything I knew. I didn’t expect to learn so much from him! The journey of motherhood has brought me to know myself. What a gift!

After struggling with her own sense of identity and looking to be open and fluid as an artist Polly found her creativity in nature through a Forest Therapy course in Glengarriff Nature Reserve and through music as she began to experiment with the loop pedal and tongue drum. Finding her creativity flow through these meditative mediums she found she was a long way from the cheesy and cliché sentiments usually reserved for greeting cards as she explored the overwhelming love for one’s child and transformation of becoming a parent. Sapling be… is a journey through motherhood, love and loss, the very life cycle of nature itself. It is no wonder that nature plays such an important role to Polly and features so heavily on Sapling be... “It reminded me how connected with nature we all are. Not even connected. We ARE nature. I wanted to express that in this album. A connection to the earth, the past, ourselves. It’s all the same thing really.” She adds.

Initially used as a tool for meditation, the tongue drum found a place in Polly’s songwriting opening her up to fully embody the music. Ethereal and rhythmic both ‘Sapling Be’ and ‘Hedgerow’ were written with just the tongue drum and loop pedal. Other songs also feature the loop pedal including ‘Huge Mistake’, ‘Sparrow’, and ‘Standing by The Sea’.  Polly plays most of the instruments on this album which include acoustic guitar, tongue drum, bodhrán, tin whistle, low whistle, bass guitar and piano. Polly has several upcoming live shows where fans will be able to experience the songs in new ways as she uses different instruments in her live performances to the recorded songs.

Recent singles ‘Huge Mistake’ and ‘Sapling Be’ introduced fans to Polly’s journey through motherhood. Of ‘Sapling Be’ Polly says “The song is like a wish for my son that he grows strong and tall like a great oak tree, and with his roots firmly in the ground. That he never forgets his connection to nature.” ‘Huge Mistake’ is an ode to finding beauty and one’s peace in an unexpected place. Both singles saw Polly earn support from RTE Radio 1’s Louise Duffy, Today FM/98FM’s Claire Beck, Lyric FM’s Marty Whelan, Dublin City FM’s John Barker and Newstalk’s Sean Moncrieff. Sapling be… was mixed by grammy-nominated producer Chris O’Brien (Clannad, Aslan, and Emma Langford) and mastered by Richard Dowling at WAV Mastering, Limerick.

Polly Barrett is a well-known name on the Irish folk scene. After releasing 2 albums, 2011’s Mr Bookshop and Probably Me in 2014 she took a break from music to focus on family. During the Covid-19 pandemic Polly quietly recorded and released “Dark Garden”, an EP of four new songs, one of which, ‘Thinking About You’ was chosen for a Discover Ireland Campaign for West Cork. Polly performed an Official Showcase at Folk Alliance in the US in 2022 and has just returned from performing at Milkwaukee Irish Fest in the US alongside the Coronas, Wallis Bird and a host of other Irish acts. She has also played alongside Jack O’Rourke, Caoimhín O’Raghallaigh and recently wowed at Tradfest.

‘Following Her Truth’ is out October 20, 2023.

Upcoming Metal-Rock band RISERFALL set to unleash fierce new single ‘Claim The Kingdom’

Riserfall, a 4-piece band based in Ireland, are the culmination of the legacy left behind by the impactful grunge scene of the 90s and the modern, innovative rock and metal scene that is flourishing worldwide.

With diverse influences that helped shape their sound (from Soundgarden to ToolAlter Bridge to Metallica, amongst many others), you can hear that the band does not shy away from this melting pot of inspiration and instead embraces it as the cornerstone of their own mission and musical statement. Not content with following trends, the band set out to craft their own unique blend of rock and metal from atop the shoulders of these giants.

After spending the last two years tearing up every stage that would have them alongside some of the best rock and metal bands Ireland has to offer, honing their stagecraft, they are ready to take on new stages further afield in the new year.

Daniel O’hEidhin fronts the group, bringing with him his lifetime of experience as a musician, all the highs and lows, the pain and the joy, the many failures and the occasional win, and years of obsessive playing and composition that have conditioned the frontman to meet the challenge, and deliver their signature high energy, stadium rock sound. Music has been a constant in Daniel’s life, always embracing evolution and change, while steadfastly remaining committed to the purest, most raw form of rock music. Music, to Daniel, is medicine. A remedy, an outlet, and an old, constant friend.

Neel Thakur, lives and breathes rhythm. Originally from New Delhi, India he has extensive experience playing drums with numerous bands in various genres in front of many different audiences. Neel came to Ireland in 2017 in search of answers to life’s greater questions and has embraced every opportunity and challenge that has come his way since. He is the bedrock and heartbeat of the band on which all the layers of composition comfortably rest. His trademark grooves hold the entire fabric of the songs together, wrapping the melodies with an educated love for varying time signatures while still delivering that powerful smash-mouth delivery.

Ciaran Hurd is Riserfall’s master of low frequencies with his snarling and sometimes obnoxious driven bass tones. Originally from the east end of London, Ciaran found himself on the west coast of Ireland until moving to Dublin when he was 18. He has honed his innate ability through many musical projects over the years, and uses that to add extra colour and texture to even the most blistering rhythmic sections. He crossed paths with frontman Daniel when they were both young, playing in other projects, taking to festivals and stages all over Ireland. They have recombined once more as rhythmic brothers in arms, building that bridge between melody and percussion to drive the songs along.

New recruit, Dan O’Connor, hailing from Kildare, rounds out the lineup, and puts the finishing touches on the aural onslaught of the band. Guitar is Dan’s passion, with nearly two decades experience and has never lost his passion and drive for creating and performing. With blistering leads and frenetic energetic riffs in his playing he brings an urgency to the mix, which compliments the melodic quality of Riserfall’s songs. Bringing with him years of experience as a lead guitarist in multiple genres from Classic Rock to Death Metal his addition has elevated their performance to a new level.

Currently the band are recording and finishing up their latest material, with Claim The Kingdom leading the line. They are eagerly looking forward to a headline show in Dublin early next year (May 2024) where they can debut their new material in front of their hometown crowd before playing shows further afield.

Claim The Kingdom represents the feeling of utter disconnect and discontent between us and the institutions and structures that surround us, that are supposed to serve us, and which perpetually endure, almost unchanging. At its core, it’s a song focused on the loss of belief in everything, and the desire to take back some semblance of representation in the making of decisions that could bring about affirmative and positive change.

Tell me how it feels.. there’s something to believe..

The song details the inner turmoil and helplessness one feels following a multi-generational, steady usurpation of affirmative action, hopeful with its call-to-action that rather than descending into apathy we can one day crown our own kings, who represent us.

Claim the kingdom, crown a king of our own..

The track was Produced and Mixed by Mike O’Dowd at Lakeland studios, Ireland, and Mastered by the legendary Ted Jensen, Sterling Sound, Nashville (who mastered Hotel California and American idiot to name a couple, as well as recently working with Bring Me The Horizon, Alice In Chains, Gojira, Mastadon, Halestorm).

Carsie Blanton Releases Heartening Title Track For New Album ‘After The Revolution’

Surviving the past few years has been no easy task, and Carsie Blanton ’s new single ‘After the Revolution’ acknowledges both the struggles we’ve been through and the hope for what’s yet to come. Blanton is releasing the title track from her forthcoming album on Friday, 6th October, 2023 ahead of a run of dates supporting Declan O’Rourke across Ireland from 27 October to 25 November.

‘After the Revolution’ is the second single off the album of the same name, which is due out on 21 March, 2024 . Blanton previously released the carefree song ‘Ain’t We Got Fun,’ which has enjoyed ample airplay on RTÉ Radio 1.

Raucous guitar and swelling strings add to the emotion of ‘After the Revolution’ as Blanton shares her glowing vision of the future: “After the revolution, we’ll have a better life / You’ll be a better husband / I’ll be a better wife.” Her idea of what lies ahead has been hard-earned. You can feel the weight of history here, yet Blanton’s voice shines ahead, a beacon guiding us through the darkness.

“After the Revolution’ is  one of the first songs I wrote for my new record. I started writing it in summer of 2021, when I returned home from a somewhat grueling tour with another maxed out credit card and my first case of Covid,” Blanton explains. “Fevered, drugged up, and quarantined in my backyard shed, I had a semi-hallucinatory reverie about the future. The REAL future; not the one being pedaled by ad campaigns or political parties. A big, deep wave of hope and grief welled up and hit me upside the head. I wasn’t sure if I even meant it, at the time. But now I do. It’s like James Baldwin said: ‘I can’t be a pessimist, because I’m alive. I’m forced to be an optimist.”

In a time that can feel so bleak, Blanton’s spirited attitude is a tonic for the soul. “It is possible to face the world as it is—rapidly heating, ruled by grifters, ravaged by profitable wars—and still have hope,” Blanton says. “Not the narrow, grasping hope you might hang on an election, but a patient, zoomed-out hope. I still believe in people.”

Blanton is known for her 2020 tribute to John Prine, ‘Fishin with You’, which brought her to the lineup for the sold-out Vicar Street Celebration of John Prine earlier this year. That show introduced Blanton to O’Rourke, and the rest is history.

Jake Carter to Release Self-Penned Motivational Pop Groove ‘Milk and Honey’

Jake Carter is set to release his self- penned, feel good, pop song ‘Milk and Honey’. The single is an uplifting, feel good pop song, with sing-a-long melodies, catchy lyrics and driving piano accompaniment.

The Catchy pop track was produced by Dublin’s Richey McCourt, who has been working with Jake over the last 12 months writing and recording a BRAND NEW set of tracks which Jake has described as “his best work to date” adding that he “finally feels he’s found the sound he’s been searching for”. Full of feel good vibes, the track was written by Jake Carter and Irish songwriter Conor McQuaid who have teamed up on a number of Jakes previous releases.

Speaking on the song’s origins, Jake says: “It was one of the easiest songs that myself and Conor have wrote. The lyrics and melodies were written in a matter of hours. We started off with the idea of writing a track that is feel good as well as motivational with the use of clever lyrics. We tried to keep the riffs and vocal melodies as catchy as possible, and with the help of the Richey McCourt, I really think we did just that.”

Liverpool born but Dublin based, Jake Carter, still only 25, has already made a name for himself in the world of creative arts through his victory on Dancing With The Stars as well as acting roles in a number of stage shows. While he enjoys the idea of continuing to bring that triple threat of acting, dancing and singing, music is Jake’s first love. The 25-year old is now seeking to firmly establish himself as a pop star in the mould of Harry Styles and Tom Brennan and to create music that reflects who he really is and not who people think he should be.

Jake Carter has plenty more songs in the pipeline and looks set to build upon the success he’s had so far and make a name for himself in the music industry. With over 600k total streams on Spotify as well as 500k+ views on his YouTube channel, combined with appearances on The Ray D’Arcy Show and The Late Late Show, shows at Vicar Street and Cork Opera House as well as radio slots on Today FM, 2FM, Spin1038 and more, the future’s looking bright.

‘Milk and Honey’ the brand new single from Jake Carter is out across all digital platforms on 20 OCTOBER 2023: https://ffm.to/jakecartermilkandhoney

Quiet Lights and Myles O’Reilly present the digital release of ‘A City Under Quiet Lights’

A short film featuring live performances from Lisa O’Neill, Joshua Burnside & Laura Quirke, Niamh Regan, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, Kate Ellis & Caimin Gilmore, Junior Brother, and Rachael Lavelle, in iconic Cork city locations.

The team behind Cork’s premiere fireside-folk festival, Quiet Lights, are delighted to present to the world the digital release of A City Under Quiet Lights, by filmmaker Myles O’Reilly, available to stream now on YouTube:

Filmed over the course of 2021’s festival, A City Under Quiet Lights is a captivating cinematic journey that invites the world to explore the heart and soul of Cork City through the lens of music and culture, with live performances by Lisa O’Neill, Joshua Burnside & Laura Quirke, Niamh Regan, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, Kate Ellis & Caimin Gilmore, Junior Brother, and Rachael Lavelle.

The film, shot, and directed, by O’Reilly, captures intimate, one-song performances by the artists set against the backdrop of cherished Cork landmarks: the Shandon Bells, Crawford Art Gallery, Coughlan’s bar, The Everyman Theatre, the historic Triskel Christchurch, and the picturesque banks of the Lee under the Shaky Bridge.

Speaking about filming A City Under Quiet Lights, Myles says: “There was a noticeable sense of joy in the city. It was the first winter out of Pandemic restrictions, and the air was thick with a palpable celebratory feeling. A renewed vigour, bustle, and excitement. A sparkle like no other year. Cork was a city rejoicing in a return to glorious normality. Buskers on every corner, families out walking and shopping together, taking selfies beside the giant Santa, stopping for a spiced beef sambo or cheese & onion potato pie, everywhere Corkonians were making the most of their freedom. Getting on famously with enjoying themselves. The music and songs I filmed helped capture that feeling in a bottle.”

A City Under Quiet Lights premiered at The Everyman for 2022’s Cork International Film Festival and screened again as part of a one-on-one installation during last month’s Sounds from a Safe Harbour festival. Finding its way to the digital realm, this release paves the way for the reveal of another, as of yet unseen, Myles O’Reilly x Quiet Lights film coming soon.

This film is a testament to the resilience and creativity of the Quiet Lights team, who found innovative ways to share their passion for folk music with a global audience during challenging times. Quiet Lights announced a break for November 2023, and instead teamed up with Sounds from a Safe Harbour festival last month to present a number of concerts. Quiet Lights festival will return in 2024.

Ispíní na hÉireann announce support act The Deadlians For their Holiday season headline show at The Academy, Dublin

Thursday, December 21, 2023 will ring in the Longest Night of the Year with an Ispíní na hÉireann Christmas Bash at The Academy, Dublin, with support act just announced, The Deadlians.

‘Please Don’t Start the Fun’ Official Video

The show will highlight music from Ispíní na hÉireann’s debut album, The Hard Working Men, as well as new work. Following their album release in the autumn of 2022 and a sold-out winter tour as support for The Scratch in Ireland and the UK, Ispíní na hÉireann’s demand for a headline show increased. Their show at The Grand Social in March of this year sold out in less than a week leading to the band searching out a larger venue for their next headline performance. You are guaranteed an entertaining, raucous, and dazzlingly wild night with these guys.

Ispíní na hÉireann’s music is a combination of original songs as well as reimagined covers and tunes, all influenced by the Irish musical tradition. There are layers of subtext and commentary, and a genuine method to all the madness. And as with any great art, it is left open to the interpretation of the listener. It is up to the audience to decide whether or not this is all waffle, or if deeper meaning can be found amidst the chaotic noise.

The Deadlians are Sean Fitzgerald (vocals, trumpet, fiddle), Barry Semple (drums), Tommy Foster (baritone guitar), Luke Farrell (synth), and Eoin Campbell (bass guitar). Their mix of psychedelic rock, folk, and punk creates a lively, fun atmosphere. Songs written in our time, of our time, for all time.

Listen to the Deadlian’s music here or on Spotify

Tickets for Ispíní na hÉireann, with support by The Deadline, at The Academy, Dublin, December 21st, on sale via Ticketmaster
