True Tides return with new single ‘All We Got Is War’

April 28, 2023

Bursting with incandescent melodies blended together with 80s style dark synth soundscapes, True Tides new single ‘All We Got Is War’ is a glittering pop banger for 2023. The track erupts with a shimmering pop hook before cascading into a dark dream-like verse where the lead vocal breaks through a heady architecture of vocoder harmonies, vocal synths & a sample of an unsettling clarinet pattern that hints at the darkness & chaos described in the lyrics – “You want to bury the hatchet, driving it into my back, maybe we just couldn’t hack it, baby all we got is war”.

All We Got Is War’ follows on from a busy year for the three brothers, with their radio smash ‘Beating Heart’ shooting to #1 in the iTunes charts above Harry Styles & debuting on the Irish Homegrown Charts at #10 with regular rotation across national & local Irish stations & playlisting across all major radio stations in Northern Ireland. Receiving Spotify playlisting on editorial tastemaker playlists; New Music Friday UKNew Pop UK and A Breath of Fresh Éire, the track was selected to open up the first episode of the eagerly awaited new series of hit E4 show ‘Made in Chelsea’. Following the success of the tracks release & upon returning from a personal invite to play the JJ Abrams hosted Oscar Wilde party in LA for Oscars week, True Tides played a sold out headline show with Cork Youth Orchestra at Cork City Hall, before playing Malahide Castle supporting pop giants Kodaline to over 25k people, drew one of the biggest audiences of the weekend to a packed main stage performance at Sea Sessions & lead singer Cian played sax to thousands of fans on global giant Lewis Capaldi’s tour culminating in his soldout Belsonic show at Ormeau Park. The band recently headlined Austria’s “Söll Ski and Rock” festival as part of this years St Patricks Weekend.

Other duties included Cian collaborating with Kodaline‘s Steve Garrigan to write songs for international pop giants Westlife’s album Wild Dreams (alongside songs by international superstar Ed Sheeran), as well as working with Irish legends The Coronas on their single Light Me Up which was included in their chart topping album & was played by Elton John on his weekly digital radio show ‘Rocket Hour’. And if that wasn’t enough to keep him busy, Cian also welcomed his first new born into the world during this stand out year.

Speaking about ‘All We Got Is War‘, Cian says; “Stuck at traffic lights outside a local music college, in the midst of a hefty writers block; I heard an eerie clarinet arpeggio floating from a student’s window. Grabbing my phone to sample it, I rushed to the studio and turned it into our latest dark & 80s synth infused, Weeknd vibe single. Reflecting the chaotic times we live in and a fractured relationship I had left behind.”
