The wonderfully talented Cork singer songwriter Niamh Murphy releases her debut solo single ‘It Really Is A Good Life’ on Bandcamp Friday May 20th. This is a song that brightens, sparkles and expresses love to a broken world!
‘I Like to carry myself away, let my desires burn with a freedom.’
‘It Really Is A Good Life’ is about those moments of clarity you experience in your waking and sleeping life which can show you how wondrous, beautiful and fleeting universe given life actually is. Throughout all the hardships, tragedies and traumas that can come into our experience in this world, actual life is such a beautiful and curious thing.
This is Niamh Murphy’s first song release as a solo artist. The pandemic had stunted Niamh’s ability to write for a while but as she emerged from the lockdowns with the rest of us, she was energised to start writing songs again. A long time super fan of Declan Sinnott – musician, writer and producer – the two came together and worked on the production of a new album and this is the first track to be released with a long overdue album to drop early 2023.
Earlier in her career, Niamh formed Foxglove releasing their first EP in 2012 with critical praise from Steve Lillywhite, Paul McLoone, Cormac Battle, Jackie Hayden, Hot Press, The Ticket and RTE for her work winning an International Songwriting Competition (ISC) in 2014. Her song ’Shields of Fire’ won third place in the Performance Category. With over 20,000 entries from over 120 countries this is a remarkable achievement. Past winners have included Mick Flannery, Passenger and Goyote.
