Míde Houlihan returns with new folk-pop track ‘Truth Be Told’

July 21, 2023

West Cork’s Míde Houlihan (pronounced ‘Mee-dah’) has returned with her new single,  ‘Truth Be Told’, a delightful folk-pop track.

The single, released on June 28th, is the second release from Míde’s forthcoming ‘Trampoline’ EP.

The very thoughtful ‘Truth Be Told’ is full of reflection and warmth, as Míde takes a step back to appreciate the little things. “This song is about remembering to be grateful, even when things seem really bad…” says the Clonakilty native, “…I guess remembering to be empathetic, and imagining how difficult things could be for someone else during those times.”

Musically, the song has elements of more modern folk, pop and indie, as well as a waltz-time swing that gives a slightly more ‘old-timey’ feel. It was recorded in Christian Best’s Monique Studios, with Best also lending his drumming talents to the track, along with Dylan Howe (Rowan/Hant) on guitar/keys and Mick Grace (Rowan/BRIARS) on bass and mandolin.

Míde has been going from strength to strength over the last few years, following one accomplishment with another. From winning the IMRO Songwriting Award to co-writing her single ‘Idle Words’ with Mick Flannery, making her UK live debut at Liverpool Irish Festival, and most recently, making her national Irish TV debut on RTÉ.

Her previous releases have consistently been aired by national radio stations in Ireland, as well as receiving airplay in the UK and USA. Míde’s music also features regularly across music media and online playlists.

In the world of live music, Míde (sometimes solo, sometimes with band) has accumulated a massive fanbase from her own room-stopping shows, in addition to support slots with the likes of Mick Flannery, SON, John Spillane, Aoife O’Donovan and many more.

’Truth Be Told’ is out now across all platforms , accompanied by a music video, coming next week.
