Irish electronica artist OLIVE HATAKE embraces the past to move forward on ‘CHROME BOYS’

August 23, 2024

As hard as it is, letting go is important in order to move forward. New doors open and new energy is accumulated. Embrace what the past memories made you feel but heal and feel the new energy…

Writing over the past year, Irish electronic artist OLIVE HATAKE has been drawing even more from the world around him – including the growing right wing movement in Ireland, the conflict of masculinity, the nature of relationships, faith and a journey into the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that lead him to compete in the European championships in Paris earlier this year. All of these can be heard in his new material, combining human emotions with euphoric dance music and beyond. ‘CHROME BOYS’ is the second single from his forthcoming project and follows a DJ slot at this year’s Electric Picnic. He will make his live UK debut with two shows at Other Voices in November.

Informed by a world of creative and cultural influences – from music and travel to visual arts the lessons life teaches us – HATAKE’s debut long player Life Of Colour (“one of the underrated Irish albums of 2022”, Nialler9) was an introspective view of his personal development and growth throughout the period of its creation. After the starker, more monochrome, companion piece Life Without Colour, he released ‘1975’ in April 2023 and returned in July of that year with the two track Summertime In Ireland Tapes – premiered on BBC Radio 1 Introducing.
