Hozier releases third album “Unreal Unearth”

August 18, 2023
Today, Hozier has released his highly anticipated third studio album Unreal Unearth.

Using Dante’s Inferno and the 9 circles of hell as a loose structure, the 16-track LP follows a captivating thematic arc informed by the turbulence of the world and the fight for a better and brighter tomorrow. Unreal Unearth, featuring 11 brand new songs including “Damage Gets Done” with Brandi Carlile, traces a provocative, poetic, and powerful roadmap back into the light.

Hozier says: “A lot of the initial writing took place in the early days of the pandemic. It felt like a very surreal time—as if the earth was on its head. That’s the Unreal part. It was also a season of great misinformation. It felt like we stepped into an alternative world. I liked Unearth as a verb ‘to dig’ or ‘to uncover.’ It describes a world that is not of this earth. The record is the experience of a journey through a certain period.”

Watch the official video for “De Selby (Part 2)” starring Irish actor and screenwriter Domhnall Gleeson HERE, which premiered earlier this week and follows the visuals for previously released singles “Eat Your Young,” “All Things End,” and “Francesca.”

Hozier will perform live on Twitch as part of Amazon’s City Sessions at 9pm EST tonight (Friday 18th August / 1am UTC+1 / 2am BST+1) and the performance will be rebroadcast for EU on Saturday 19th August at 7pm BST / 8pm CEST.

Unreal Unearth will be offered both digitally and in various physical configurations including standard black LP, raw ochre D2C exclusive LP, burnt clay Amazon exclusive LP, light umber indie retail exclusive LP, CD, and cassette.

With over 1 million tickets sold worldwide, and recently wrapping a sold out European, UK and US tours, he will bring his massive international ‘Unreal Unearth Tour’ back to Europe in December, which will see him conquer arenas, including London’s OVO Arena Wembley, and x3 sold out shows in Dublin’s 3Arena. The North American leg of Hozier’s ‘Unreal Unearth Tour’ begins on September 9 in St. Louis, MO with Madison Cunningham joining as special guest across all dates.
