Gavin Murphy (Gavin Murphy Songs) is an alternative indie pop artist who hails from the north side of Dublin, Ireland. He is currently a music tutor for Music Generation Ireland and band manager of These Charming Men.
Break Down Every Door is Gavin’s new single which was written and recorded in his home studio in Sligo, Ireland.
“The song started with a funky bass line and I laid down a steady drum groove followed by all the guitar parts. My 16-year-old son played wonderful keyboard parts and Roisin Egan put down some backing vocals.”
Gavin and co-producer Ger McDonnell (U2, The Cure, Sinead O’Connor) have a great musical connection, with Ger assisting with recording vocals and putting the finishing touches to the song.
“’Break Down Every Door’ is about the frustrations of trying to get your art past the gatekeepers and tastemakers in order to be discovered and heard. The lyrics are also relatable to anyone who is just trying to get on in life”
Gavin describes his sound as “Indie pop/rock with a meaningful and modern twist”.
