Today, Dublin-based singer-songwriter Galvo released his newest single “Maybe” off his debut album, The HeARTist, out September 26. The tender track explores the ‘maybes’ of our lives as lyrics ruminate on a romance that could have been. Across heartfelt vocals backed by a resounding formation of steady strings and percussion, Galvo traverses through the emotions that arise from seeing a future with someone and realizing it will never come to fruition.
The accompanying video features striking, colorful imagery as Galvo stares into the eyes of a romance that could have been. The final moments depict the pair holding fireworks that will inevitably fizzle out, much like their relationship.
“Sometimes love is meant to hit you so hard,” Galvo says. “Sometimes it’s meant to knock you off your feet, and sometimes it’s not meant for you. ‘Maybe’ it felt like the chemistry was there but the spark fizzled out. And so ‘maybe’ it’s meant to be, ‘maybe’ it’s not.”~
He continues, “We all have those interactions with someone where it felt like a journey was about to begin and then doesn’t. The self reflection of it all comes back to you, and that’s what the verses of this song are about – those harsh self reflections of ‘was it me, was it them’…maybe it was both.”
