London-based Irish pop singer-songwriter, Fia Moon returns with new single ‘blue skies’ set for release on March 8th. The song will be accompanied by a DIY visualiser shot entirely on handheld cameras and smartphones in the cityscape of London. The video embraces a lo-fi aesthetic, adding to its authenticity and the raw emotion of the song.

The song demonstrates Fia’s keen sense for sophisticated arrangements, unusual melodies and different timbres.Working alongside London producer Sam Tsang (Fred Again, Griff, Kamal, Lucy Blue) Fia co-wrote ‘blue skies’ in his London studio. The song came together naturally and easily in one day, speaking on the production Fia explains,

“I wanted it to feel light and dark at the same time and Sam perfectly captured that confusing feeling, with his haunting and atmospheric style of production. We laughed and I probably cried at some point lol but it all just felt like we were trying to capture a feeling, more so than trying to create a perfect song.”

The track explores the delicate stages of healing after the end of a relationship, with themes of self-love, rediscovery, and gratitude. The song’s structure mirrors the progression from dawn to dusk, symbolizing the journey from the pale blue crisp skies of morning to the candlelight evenings of introspection and attempted renewal.

Fia’s silky vocals combine to create a hypnotic, meditative soulful pop song with an alluring and intimate undertone. Speaking on the meaning of the song, Fia explains,

“blue skies isn’t necessarily about a particular person or place, but about an underlying feeling that I had at the time.

Like all my songs, this feels like a little diary entry. It’s about a morning I woke up from a dream and forgot that person was gone from my life. There’s something so fascinating about dreams where they disarm you and you lose sense of reality. When I first woke up, I was so disorientated. Like how every day comes to an end, how every tide comes in and out, life goes on. And you must learn to carry on and find the light in every situation. It was a reminder that maybe I wasn’t fully moved on from these feelings, and accepting that.”

‘blue skies’ is Fia’s first release of 2024 following the success of her previous single ‘On Fire’ which dominated the Irish Radio charts reaching #2 in the Breakers Chart and #37 in the Irish Airplay Chart and amassing 12 million impressions and counting since its release!
