Acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter Edel Meade announces the release of her poignant new single, ‘For Sinéad,’ to mark the anniversary of O’Connor’s untimely passing.
A Tribute to an Icon
‘For Sinéad’ is a lyrical homage to the iconic Sinéad O’Connor, whose indomitable spirit and powerful voice left an indelible mark on the world. The song captures the essence of O’Connor’s courage, strength, and enduring influence in Ireland and across the globe. This heartfelt tribute marks Meade’s first release since her celebrated album ‘Brigids and Patricias’ in 2021.
Meade reflects on the inspiration behind the song, saying, “Sinéad O’Connor was a trailblazer, a true warrior woman who wasn’t afraid to speak her truth. ‘For Sinéad’ is my way of honouring her legacy and expressing the deep gratitude felt by Mná na hÉireann (women of Ireland) and beyond.”
This release marks a new chapter in Meade’s artistic journey following on from her ‘Brigids and Patricias’ album which explored what it means to be a woman in Ireland today. ‘For Sinéad’ continues this narrative, shining a light on the profound impact of Sinéad O’Connor’s life and work.
‘For Sinéad’ will be available on all major streaming platforms from 26th July 2024.
