Carl Corcoran returns to recording after 20 years with new EP ‘Three of A Kind’

November 14, 2022

Back in 2020, Lockdown inspired music business veteran Carl Corcoran to return to the recording environment after a 20-year hiatus. ‘To Feel The Power of Love’(Corcoran) was a reaction to our ‘new world’ of post-Covid 19. Berlin based Kevin Corcoran, Carl’s son, himself a busy musician/pianist/composer/producer, arranged and produced the track remotely due to contact restrictions.

Now, two years on, the pair have returned to the face-to-face world and entered the studio to bring us two more originals.

‘Til We Meet Again’(Corcoran/Taylor) is a co-write by Carl and collaborator Rosemarie Taylor – a song written and originally recorded in the USA for Carl’s 1995 Rego Records Album ‘Dancing the Dublin Reel’ – voted Album of the Year by the Irish Echo.  The song has more familial connections.  Carl and Rosemarie were once married, and now the next generation, Kevin, creates this gorgeous aural landscape for the song!

Carl dedicates this version to the students past and present of the MA in Songwriting at the Irish World Academy in University of Limerick, of which he was Course Director 2017-22.

‘A Place in My Heart’(Corcoran) the newest song, and a simple love song, completes the trio for this collection arranged and produced by Kevin Corcoran. The guitar work is that of an old pal, renowned broadcaster/entertainer Aonghus McAnally.

Carl and Aonghus will present ‘An Evening With…’ at the Viking Theatre @ The Sheds in Clontarf Thurs, Fri and Sat Dec 1,2 and 3 Tix at www.vikingtheatredublin.com

Carl releases ‘Three of A Kind’ on Friday 18th November
