Killarney singer Ben Quinlan has just released the Christmas single ‘Red Snow’.
Ben began singing at a young age, performing in musical theatre productions including RTE Talent Show ‘Ice Star Search’. In 2012 he played a main role in ‘Titanic The Musical’ 100th Anniversary that was showcased in the INEC Arena.
In 2014 Ben competed in the X Factor. He was the last finalist in the boys category that made it to the last stage of Bootcamp. Ben performed his song ‘Believe in Yourself’ at Wembley Arena to a standing ovation from all four judges and over five thousand people in attendance.
In 2019 he won Ireland’s Alternative Eurovision with his original song ‘Magical’.
The festive single Red Snow, written by Will Scally, begins with the familiar sound of jingle bells, before darker lyrics shift the mood: “I awoke with blood on my hands and icicles for tears”.
Despite the melancholy, the song’s chorus “It must be Christmas Day”, allows for a triumphant feel that evokes Christmas ballads such as ‘Stay Another Day’ and ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’
