IMRO First Cuts Showcases at Abner Brown’s feature the best up and coming as well as established Irish acts. In the intimate setting performers are given the opportunity to debut new tracks along with their current material. Performance highlights and interviews with all acts who perform are later streamed online at www.IMRO.ie and across IMRO’s social media channels. To date, showcases have featured appearances from the likes of Marc O’Reilly, Gavin James, Ailbhe Reddy, Mark Geary, Farah Elle, Bronagh Gallagher, Chasing Abbey, Wild Youth and Orla Gartland.

Eve Belle is a 19-year-old singer from Donegal. Her first EP, ‘Sonder’ included the achingly beautiful ‘Too Young To Feel This Old’, and her cover of ‘Violet Hill’ by Coldplay was shared by the band themselves on their socials. She played nine dates with Frightened Rabbit on their Irish tour in February 2017, and more recently Beth Orton and Wyvern Lingo. Eve has spent the past few months working with London-based producer Fred Cox, best known for his work with Billie Marten and Lion Babe, and Simon Aldred of Cherry Ghost and Birdy fame. The first fruits of their studio labours is the new single ‘Boy From The Blue’.

Raised in Wexford, twins Brandon and Ashley combine to create The Ocelots. They have crafted their songwriting and musical experience together to produce a forceful blend of rich harmonies and bare, raw acoustic folk. The Ocelots started originally through busking around Ireland, before playing their music throughout many stages all across Europe. The brothers are known for their ability to capture an audience, with mesmerising melody and variety meeting their charm and wit on stage. Brandon and Ashley showcase their music through random pop up videos online, where they get to perform under bridges and outside city halls.

Irish Singer-songwriter Ivan Nicolas started out as a drummer in a blues band and then progressed to guitar and piano. After honing his craft, Ivan decided to move to Kerry, where he wrote his first song a few years previous, to live on the side of a mountain for a year in solitude working on writing his debut album. Living with such open space around him helped sculpt his personal process of loss and love on many levels. Weaving songs into a great tapestry drawing from personal experiences such as the loss of a friend and intimate trials and tribulations of human relationships. His debut album was recorded in Grouse Lodge studios with acclaimed producer Dani Castelar (Paolo Nutini, REM, Michael Jackson). Ivan released his first single ‘For The Weekend’ in April 2017, to much acclaim and reaction from 98FM to Radio Kerry and the highly sought after BBC Introducing. Ivan has played many a stage and venue including The Electric Picnic. Ivan has just released his new single ‘Moving On’ it’s getting national radio play around Ireland and it’s receiving some stellar reviews… “Part Arcade Fire bombast and part the War On Drugs driving alt.rock, Ivan Nicolas’ latest offering ‘Moving On’ centers itself around a persistent punching backbone that cuts right through the textural middle ground of the music.” The Last Mixed Tape

Abner Brown’s is not only the coolest barbershop in town, it’s also one of Dublin’s most unique venues. The unlikely Rathmines venue has already seen performances from hundreds of acts such as Ash, Gavin Glass, Duke Special, David Geraghty (of Bell X1 fame), The Young Folk, Molly Sterling, Mundy, The Hot Sprockets and many more. REM’s Michael Stipe has even paid a visit.
