Co-Founders Candace Avery and Jim Morgan said, “We continue to be impressed by the UK entrants, and these winners embody the best of the up-and-coming talent that is coming out of the UK and Ireland.”

Winning First Place in the Adult Contemporary (AC) category with the song “Muscles And Bones” is The Luck, the brother and sister indie duo of Max and Esmay Luck. Having both grown up singing in choirs, they have developed their blend of bewitching, soaring harmonies over percussive guitar, stomp and electric bass lines. Hailing from London, the duo are working on their next release following the success of their single “Muscles and Bones” in 2013. This song gained sync on UK TV show ‘Hollyoaks’ and radio play in the UK and Switzerland. It also won the International Songwriting Competition in the Adult Contemporary category. The duo are now based in California where they are writing, recording and performing.

Garnering First Place in the Rock category is the explosive award-winning indie rock band King No-One for the song “Millennium.” Hailing from York, England, their music combines simplicity and expression, originality and intricacy. They play dynamically diverse music, from smooth overlaying melodies to raw, expressive rock. The winning song “Millennium” has received BBCRadio6 airplay as well as international airplay in Europe, USA, and Africa and was also played on national television on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.

Taking home Second Place honors in the Adult Album Alternative (AAA) category is Sam Eliot for his song “Believe.” A remarkable singer/songwriter based in London, England, Eliot has been writing and playing music since very young but got seriously into it after hearing Bob Dylan on the radio, and he hasn’t looked back since. Other than Dylan, his musical influences are Bon iver, John Lennon, Mumford and Sons, Adele, and many more.

The overall Grand Prize winner is awarded to the US band Goodbye June for their song “Daisy.” Comprised of three cousins, indie-rockers Goodbye June released their highly anticipated debut album Nor The Wild Music Flow in 2012 and have not stopped since. With a European tour under their belt and a second album on the way, this band is poised for greater success. Their winning song “Daisy” is a surefire hit and will be released on their upcoming album.

In addition to winning $10,000 in cash and much more in merchandise, the Grand Prize winner receives the opportunity to be mentored by and directly network with the top echelon of record company professionals. Mentors include presidents and top-level executives from Universal Republic, Sire, Elektra, Warner Bros., Atlantic, Sub Pop, Big Machine, Word Label Group, Capitol, Roc Nation, American, and Virgin.

Tune-Up Your Business Award is a new award designed to encourage Irish businesses to tap into the commercial benefits of providing music for their customers and employees.

Have you ever thought about offering music for your customers or staff members but were unsure of where to start?  Or perhaps you are looking to upgrade the music equipment that you are currently using? The IMRO Tune-Up Your Business Award could be for you.

The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO), the organisation that represents over 10,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers is giving Irish businesses the opportunity to improve the music facilities in their premises.

There is a prize fund of €4,000 up for grabs, to spend exclusively on music equipment in your premises.

The Awards programme is open to those currently using music and also for businesses planning to introduce music into their premises in the near future.

“No matter what industry you´re in, everyone agrees that putting your customer at the heart of your business and providing good customer service is a top priority. Whether you operate a hotel, restaurant, bar, hairdressing salon or supermarket, part of this service is about providing customers with music to enhance their experience” – stated Victor Finn, Chief Executive, IMRO at the launch of the Awards today.

Businesses can enter simply by telling us how they would enhance and develop the music in their business if they won the prize fund by completing an online application form at:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/imrotune-up

The closing date for entries is 7th November 2014.

There is a growing level of research to demonstrate the positive impact that music plays in commercial settings. A recent survey[1] found that 66% of employees surveyed believed that background music made them feel better and more motivated at work.  With improved motivation often comes greater productivity.  A similar study[2] found that 84% of shoppers like shops that play in-store music and of that percentage 23% claim they would be prepared to pay 5% more for goods if music was being played.

Dublin Studio Hub Announces the Launch of a Fully Online Irish-based Music & Song Production Service.

Dublin Studio Hub (DSH) announces the launch of its new & unique online song and music production service, via its site www.dublinstudiohub.com . The project is the brainchild of professional musician, sound engineer, and longtime industry producer Larry Hogan. It was born of the idea that many songwriters, bands, and artists could either not afford, or did not have access to, the big end of the music business.dubhub

“The idea of the HUB was born from things I had learned or experienced in the Irish music industry over many years. Firstly, there is so much great Irish musical talent out there, both vocal and instrumental, and I wanted a way to bring that all together into an accessible creative hub for artists and songwriters. Secondly that for every person who knows the music business, there’s an artist or musician that doesn’t – they don’t have connections, haven’t done studio work, or just don’t know how to take their material to the next level. From these two ideas the Hub was born.” (Larry Hogan – Founder Dublin Studio Hub)

Founder Larry Hogan began producing music for clients in 1994, and his team have produced hundreds of tracks for artists, some the biggest names in the business, and some only just starting out. Larry and the DSH production team have worked with artists including The Band , Peter Gabriel, XTC, Tears For Fears, Icehouse, Echo And The Bunnymen, The Corrs , Kila , Christy Moore , Ronan Keating and Brian Kennedy

The Dublin Studio Hub brings the team’s music production and arrangement talents to a wider global audience in a way that makes the music industry accessible. The site, and the online service embodies Larry’s production philosophy, which is to make great music, work in an open and honest way with clients and artists, and deliver great value.

“We’re trying to take some of the mystery out of the music business, by providing a digital hub where any global songwriter, band, or artist can bring their song or track to be produced. We then take their material and get to work with our session musicians, our vocalists, and one of our production team to give them a polished big-end-of-town studio sound. They can get access to some of the best in the Irish music business. It’s win-win for Irish music.”  adds Hogan.

Based in Dublin Ireland, Dublin Studio Hub is a collaboration of professional and passionate musicians who have come together under Larry to record and produce great music. In addition to working tirelessly on their own careers in the industry, these artists and players contribute on a work-for-hire basis for DSH projects for online hub clients.
