Crash Ensemble releases Crash Works album & announces New Open Call for Music Creators
Ireland’s leading new music group, Crash Ensemble, today announces two major developments in its celebrated Crash Works initiative: the release of the Crash Works II album (out now on Crash Records) and the open call for the next generation of music creators (2026–2027 residency programme).
CRASH WORKS II ALBUM – OUT NOW
Crash Works is a commission and development hub for music creators at pivotal stages of their careers, offered in partnership with New Music Dublin. The newly released album captures the culmination of the second Crash Works cycle, presenting 5 world premieres from emerging and exceptional voices in contemporary music:
Aoife King – Dialectic Erosions
Aleksandr Nisse – Pleonexia
Cathal O’Riordan – 0.5%
Lara Weaver – Singing Sands
Tim Doyle – Fánaíocht – Topophilia – An Ode to Slow Living
The works were premiered at New Music Dublin Festival by Crash Ensemble, conducted by Ryan McAdams, with visual collaborations by Laura Sheeran, Anna Rose Garvey and Billy Kemp.
Commissioned by Crash Ensemble and New Music Dublin with support from the Arts Council of Ireland, and further supported by Dublin City Council, these works showcase the powerful new directions of Irish contemporary music today.
“Crash Works is about creating the space and support for music creators to take risks, to imagine differently, and to bring brand-new sound worlds into being. This album captures that moment of discovery – You Heard It First.” – Kate Ellis, Artistic Director
The Crash Works II album is available now on Crash Records.
CRASH WORKS OPEN CALL – RESIDENCY 2026–2027
Crash Ensemble is also inviting applications for the next cycle of Crash Works residencies (2026–2027), offering 5 music creators the chance to undertake a 2-year programme of mentorship, experimentation, and collaboration with the Crash musicians and team.
