Robert Delaney ‘Rising Tide’

Following the release of his taster solo EP last year – ‘Lilies For My Sweetheart’ –  Robert Delaney’s  debut album,  ‘Rising Tide’ is available now  in Tower Records and HMV.

This is an album about life, about love, lost and found, with soul searching lyrics and carefully crafted meoldies which draw the listener in.

Robert is a Dublin based singer songwriter with rhythm and soul, folk and blues influences.  Robert was writing poetry before he ever picked up a guitar and that love of lyricism shines through his songwriting.

“Delaney’s lyrics are some of the best I’ve heard from an Irish songwriter in recent times” Mark Walsh, The Indie Sight.

Delaney is an extremely talented singer songwriter hailing from Dublin and is on course for a very promising career within the music industry”..musicscene.ie

Listening to this album, it’s no mystery that Robert’s music elicits this kind of praise.

Following a very successful tour of east coast USA late last year, Robert plans to tour the west coast before Christmas 2012 and will launch his album with a live performance upstairs in Whelan’s on 19th September 2012.

Robert has also written lyrics with other Irish acts including Dublin singer songwriter Donal De Blacam and London based electro act Bitches With Wolves.  His book of lyrics (‘Bourbon Lyrics’) was published in 2009 and is available from www.lulu.com.

New Album for Carried By Waves | ‘Softly Held Together’

Last year was a busy one for CARRIED BY WAVES, and one marked by considerable progress. A debut show in January 2011 was closely followed by a performance as part ofIreland’s ‘First Music Contact’ tour, and in August they were among the acts chosen to play at the ‘Hard Working Class Heroes’ festival inDublin. This run of shows was topped off in September of the same year by a slot at the internationally acclaimed festival ‘The Electric Picnic’ in Co. Laois.

2012 began with both Hot Press and ‘Heinekenmusic.ie’ tipping Carried By Waves as “one to watch” , and in July 2012 ‘Carried By Waves’ debut album ‘Softly Held Together’ was featured as Dan Hegarty’s “album of the week” on 2FM. This acclaim was bolstered by a string of successful nationwide shows, performing with various high profile Irish acts (e.g. R.S.A.G, Le Galaxie, Squarehead, Funeral Suits, Gretta Gunn, & Sleep Thieves among others), as well as a headline slot at the ‘Indiependence’ festival in Mitchelstown, Ireland for the ‘Love Music, Hate Racism’ stage . Following the release of 3 E.Ps last year and a handful of remix projects, “Softly Held Together” was released (for free download) in July 2012. Carried by Waves have just been selected to play at this year’s Hard Working Class Heroes Festival.

Jape, Australian Release and Tour Announced

Having won the prestigious Choice Music Prize for ‘Album Of The Year’ (Ireland’s equivalent of Britain’s Mercury Prize), Jape release their acclaimed album, ‘Ocean Of Frequency’ in Australia on 28th September.

The universally praised record marks the first international release on HUB The Label (Dappled Cities, Winter People) and is the finest collection of twisted pop songs you’re likely to encounter this side of the 80s.

The release comes ahead of Jape’s soon-to-be-announced debut Australian tour with Dappled Cities Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, and now calling Sweden home; Jape began as the solo moniker of Richie Egan – who was at the time performing in various projects including Redneck Manifesto and Domino Records’ Villagers – and has evolved over the past five years into one of the most exciting live acts in Europe, developing a cult-like status.

The band broke into global consciousness in 2007 when The Raconteurs’ Brendan Benson encountered Jape’s track “Floating” while on a trip to Ireland. Benson loved it so much he would soon begin incorporating a cover of it into live sets. Jape found themselves supporting the Jack White-fronted supergroup on stages around the world, and having their track reinterpreted by the likes of Soulwax.

Egan has been part of many bands from an early age, and spent his youth experimenting with four-track tape recorders and sounds. This experimentation provides the foundation of ‘Ocean Of Frequency’, which knits together an eclectic blend of meticulously crafted lyrics and electronic rhythms; with influences ranging from Brian Eno to Caribou. “….blending guitars and synthetic beats to great effect. He’s probably bored of being called the Irish Beck, so we won’t. Instead, let’s just say no-one has done this type of thing as well since… well, you get the picture” ★★★★ NME

Jape’s regard within Ireland has reached levels unprecedented by musical peers, becoming the first act ever to win the regarded Choice Music Prize for Best Irish Album twice: first for 2008’s ‘Ritual’ and this year for ‘Ocean Of Frequency’. The award has long been regarded as a launching pad for Ireland’s finest, with previous winners including Two Door Cinema Club and The Divine Comedy. Lauded by European critics, the album is a boundless, genre-defying exploration of sound, ideas and possibilities. “The idea for the title, Ocean of Frequency came from an interview I saw with Michael Talbot,” says Egan. “He was an American author who wrote some books linking science with mysticism. I feel the answer to religion lies somewhere in science and I like to think that we all float about in an ocean of frequency that we can’t understand. People always go on about the difference between science and religion, in my opinion there is an unending spiritual beauty in the order of science.”

Jogging ‘Take Courage’ Album Launch

Out on a Limb presents

JOGGING

‘TAKE COURAGE’ – ALBUM LAUNCH with special guests GUILTY OPTICS & ELK

 Whelan’s, 25 Wexford St, D2.

Saturday 25th August Doors 8pm Tickets €10/€15 with LP & Digital Download

‘Take Courage’ will be Released on Friday, August 24th on Out On A Limb Records

Take Courage is Jogging’s follow-up to the much-acclaimed Minutes (2010, Richter Collective), taking a leap in fidelity having been recorded in June 2012 with U.S. producer Chris Common (ex-These Arms Are Snakes, with production credits for Minus The Bear, Pelican, Mastodon, and Tiny Vipers under his belt). It will be Jogging’s first release for Out On A Limb Records, coming out on vinyl (with download) and digital on Friday, August 24th.

Jogging awakened in 2009 and quickly gained a formidable live reputation. They have toured Ireland and the UK, sharing the stage with Wire, Polvo, Ponytail, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead and Themselves amongst others. Jogging’s music has been described as “an intense, raw blend of post-hardcore and gutsy indie rock”.

Take Courage sees Jogging dealing with constantly rearranging social structures, the aging process, and the effects of living out an extended teenhood throughout one’s twenties, all served up with a hefty dollop of malice and spite (albeit mostly directed towards same selves). The composition and collaboration is a marked progression on Minutes, where no part overstays its welcome and every transition is seamless yet startling. Sonically, it is worlds apart from the first record, as drums thunder their way through each turn, the well-rounded yet distorted bass rumbles and drives the melodies and the guitars cut though like ice-picks. The band’s trademark call-and-response vocals are barked with authority and conviction down to their last breath, and every word has resonance. A rare thing for an Irish record in 2012.

The album will be officially launched at Whelan’s, Dublin, on Saturday, August 25th, with special guests Elk and Guilty Optics. The launch will be followed by dates around Ireland in September.
