SUPERBLONDES ‘Kill Some Time’

SBLONDESA year ago Superblondes released their debut EP………

“……….. does what a good ep should do, offers the listener a taste and leave them with an appetite for more!” (Limerick Event Guide)

…….and here they are to whet the appetite with “Kill Some Time” a swooping, swirling, shimmering sound that evokes thoughts of summer nights.  Contagious guitar driven hooks, drum beats that sound as if they are about to take off and soaring vocals.

“…….groovy stuff that we need more of” (Jackie Hayden – Hot Press)

Cork and Limerick based Superblondes’ core members Calvin Cooke (drums), Simon Dargan (bass) and  Eoin Hally (guitar, keys.vox) recorded the self-penned  “Kill Some Time”  at The Factory in Dublin, produced and mixed by Kieran Lynch (U2, R.E.M, Elvis Costello), mastered by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Yeah Yeahs, Beastie Boys).  Further tracks from the sessions will be released later in the year.

Supplemented by additional guitarists Superblondes are an exhilarating and exciting live five piece band, they have shared stages with White Lies, Alabama 3, The Minutes, Kila, Fight Like Apes and Delorentos as well as playing slots at Hard Working Class Heroes and Indiependence.  The plan for 2013 is to get out there and perform.

Kid Karate ‘In The City’

9610064_kidkarateartKid Karate have just completed the recording of their debut LP, Night Terrors, which will be released in 2013…but before that they’ve made new track ‘In The City’ available a soundcloud.com/kidkarate/this-city

Kid Karate are vocalist/guitarist Kevin Breen and drummer Steven Gannon. Influenced by Death From Above 1979, LCD Soundsystem, Talking Heads, Queens of the Stone Age, Lightning Bolt and Death Grips.

The band’s musical aesthetic is based around Breen’s thunderous guitar-work and atypical howl, and Gannon’s primal drumming style. These elements combined enable the pair to create music that is catchy and intoxicating. Kid Karate make more noise than two people should.

The duo have performed highly acclaimed sets at Hard Working Class Heroes, CastlePalooza, Forbidden Fruit Festival and Electric Picnic as well as playing shows in the UK and Europe. Their gigs have been described as manic and explosive with club promoters warning guests, “Expect to get the heads blown off you!” – (POD).

Kid Karate play SXSW next week, see http://www.musicfromireland.org/ for details

His film documenting last year’s performances in the Mitchelstown Caves, by Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, Lisa Hannigan, Duke Special and James Vincent McMorrow premiered at the Cork Opera House last month, with rave reviews. His films are shot from his signature perspective of someone going to the gig.
