Irish electronic artist Olive Hatake set to release new Single ‘PS4’ Friday October 4th

October 3, 2024

“The song is a realisation of errors made in my past love encounters, finally stepping into the shoes of the opposite person. I’m also understanding that those errors were caused due to big obstacles I had to face this year – including losing one of my best friends. Yet we must keep moving on and keeping the faith that all will be good….”

Writing over the past two years, Irish electronic artist OLIVE HATAKE has been drawing even more from the world around him – including the growing right wing movement in Ireland, the conflict of masculinity, the nature of relationships, faith and a journey into the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that lead him to compete in the European championships in Paris earlier this year. All of these can be heard in his new material, combining human emotions with euphoric dance music and beyond on his forthcoming second album. He will also make his live UK debut with two shows at Other Voices Cardigan in November.

Soaking influence from music across the world, OLIVE HATAKE always finds himself going back to his roots of soul and pure ultimate feel in his production. Like the upcoming album itself, new single PS4 is a Rhodes infused electronic record inspired by artists such as Eden and Nala Sinephro as well as creatives from a variety of other artforms.

Informed by a world of creative and cultural influences – from music and travel to visual arts the lessons life teaches us – debut long player Life Of Colour (“one of the underrated Irish albums of 2022”, Nialler9) was an introspective view of his personal development and growth throughout the period of its creation. After the starker, more monochrome, companion piece Life Without Colour, he released ‘1975’ in April 2023 and returned in July of that year with the two track Summertime In Ireland Tapes – premiered on BBC Radio 1 Introducing. His most recent single ‘CHROME BOYS’ has featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds, The Loft and Irish Dance playlists.
