Damien Dempsey releases Christmas single ‘Failte Abhaile’ in aid of Focus Ireland

November 28, 2022

Damien Dempsey releases the new Christmas song Failte Abhaile (Welcome Home) on 28th November 2022. The single has been written by Damien, long term musical collaborator and producer John Reynolds and Gary Brown. All profits from the track will go to Focus Ireland.

Gary Brown, co-writer of the track explains “...The song is an expression of Welcome to all Irish people, whether they be at home or abroad ,who during these last few  years of covid may not have been able to get home for Christmas to see their loved ones…”

The song reaches out to the Irish diaspora who are spread across the globe far and wide. The lyric references places in the North, South, East and West of Ireland and highlights the Failte that awaits Irish people in all their individual counties.

An Irish Christmas is a unique experience and with the gathering of family and friends together over the festive season it sees the rekindling of memories both joyful and sad that connects and binds people together in most memorable and emotional way. Failte Abhaile is a true Irish welcome. A welcome  home for one and all for Christmas.

The artwork for the single has been donated by one of Ireland’s favourite artistic sons, Maser. Maser truly embodies the centric spirit of contemporary visual art in Ireland today and over the last 25 years, Maser has earned much respect professionally and has generated a large and dedicated following both in Ireland and Internationally – through his seamlessly imaginative and unique graphic style.

Focus Ireland is a non-profit organisation based in Dublin that provides services for people who are homeless and people at risk of homelessness in Ireland. It was founded by Sister Stanislaus Kennedy in 1985, and is one of the largest housing and homelessness organisations in Ireland.
