In association with IMRO, Monday March 15th-Friday March 19th is Waterford Music Week on WLR, Ireland’s Local Station of the Year. Across the week, WLR will be showcasing and supporting local independent artists on air, online and across social.
Just some of the hugely talented featured artists include Carrie Baxter, Alex Gough, Backroad Smokers Club, Rachel English, Jess Reinl, Toucan, King Kong Company and many more. From rap to indie, pop to folk and jazz to electronic, there is something to suit all tastes.
WLR’s Head of Music and Waterford Music Week coordinator Ray Colclough says, “Our county is rich with musical talent going back decades but the amount of new talent currently in Waterford is just ridiculous. I think every main style of music is covered and covered well! From spoken word to dance music, Waterford seems to have it all. This week on WLR is only a sample of what’s on offer and I’m hoping to make this a main stay feature that will run a couple of times a year.“
