Arty McGlynn and Maeve Dunphy Release Jazz EP | “Don’t Wait Up For Me”
When Arty McGlynn is on time off from touring, he plays jazz in his local bar (McCanns, John Street) in his home town of Omagh, Co Tyrone, each Monday night. He has gathered together a band of friends and Omagh natives, Aidan Dunphy on drums, Jerome McGlynn (Arty’s son) on guitar, Sean O’Brien on bass, Seany Mc Carron on sax, and occasional guest vocals from singer/songwriter, Maeve Dunphy. They call themselves “The Grooveyard Shift” and have recently made a live recording, sampling the Monday night repertoire. The title track of the EP is called “Don’t wait Up For Me”, a Rock ‘n’ Roll inspired original by Maeve Dunphy, and other tracks include songs originally recorded by Aretha Franklin, Memphis Minnie, and the beautiful 1920s song, “Amapola”, by Joseph La Calle (immortalised on the sound track of the film, “Once Upon a Time in America”).
The tracks are available for download on Itunes, and a special addition CD is available on request. Maeve’s debut album “Scarlet” is available on Amazon, Itunes and CD Baby, and her band are available for bookings. Visit Maeve Dunphy Music on Facebook for further details/enquiries.
Arty McGlynn and the Grooveyard Shift play the last Monday of each month in Mc Canns of John Street Omagh. (though ring ahead to check)
