‘The Book’ – New Single and Album Announcement from Nixer

March 8, 2024

Nixer are releasing The Book on March 13 to coincide with the announcement of their second EP I hit the town and the town hit me back which sees a digital and vinyl release on May 17. Coming off the back of supporting The Clockworks and The Mary Wallopers, 2024 is shaping up to be Nixer’s biggest year yet.

The Book marks the second single from Nixer’s forthcoming EP I hit the town and the town hit me back and further burnishes their reputation as one of the most exciting acts emerging from London’s fertile alternative scene. Following on from the successes of Second Hand, Pleasure & Irish Dancer, The Book continues the act’s run of diverse singles, from both a sonic and thematic perspective.

The track is about living in a euphoric, dreamlike state. It is inspired by reading and how this simple act can have such a transformative effect on one’s imagination. The track was composed whilst reading Sputnik Sweetheart by Murakami which inspired the song’s themes of unrequited love and longing.

Sonically the release is a distillation of the trademark Nixer sound: uptempo and visceral all whilst delicately balanced with the perfect amount of pop sensibilities. Taken from a Nixer record by Seán Keenan and Simon Gardner. Recorded, produced and mixed in a bedroom in London, LA, and New York City. Mastered by Rude 66 in California.
