Post-Party brand new single ‘LAP AROUND THE SUN’ was released Friday 10 Nov 2023. Proving themselves as one of the Irish acts to watch in 2024, their debut EP “We’re Not Getting Any Younger” placed No. 3 in the Official Irish Independent Chart, alongside being supported on Spotify’s New Music Friday, Breath of Fresh Eire, The Indie List and Hottest New Bands playlists.
The new release follows in a chain of self-produced material by the band. Recorded in Transmission Rooms, ‘LAP AROUND THE SUN’ sees Post-Party explore the fact that beautiful moments don’t last forever and that is, sometimes, what makes them so significant. This song celebrates the importance of letting go to move forward. Fast paced and energetic, this is a song for people who like the pacey guitar lines of The Strokes, the synths of The Killers and the vocal melodies of the classic Indie Rock revival.
Speaking about the single Keelan O’Reilly of Post-Party says: “We are really excited to release ‘LAP AROUND THE SUN’. The song is about the struggle and strife, but ultimately the relief of letting go of something in order to move forward. This song has been a showing of the reworking of our back-catalogue. We worked really hard to reshape some old ideas and found ourselves falling in love with them in a new light. It’s kind of a full circle moment and perfectly represents where the song comes from, letting go of the old in preparation to embrace the new.“
Since forming the band, they have played venues such as the Roisin Dubh in Galway, sold out headline Dublin and Belfast shows, toured Ireland and the UK, played main-stage slots at Sea Sessions and Indiependence and supported the likes of Miles Kane, Lovejoy, Wild Youth and Inhaler.
Drawing from episodes of their formative years, Post-Party imbue their guitar pop with a honed youthful energy of catchy hooks and bouncy lyrics. The band have set the bar high for what is to come from the quartet in 2024. After spending the course of 2023 writing new material, the band are set to release much awaited new music in the months to come.
A three-piece Indie Rock band based in Dublin; Post-Party consists of Keelan O’Reilly, Colin Peppard and Matthew O’Reilly.
Forming in late 2018 in Dublin, Post-Party have built up a reputation for their live performances playing in various well-known venues across Ireland and the UK. Bonding over a mutual passion for music and film, the band aspires to create something reflective of their own experiences of growing up. Their influences consist of The Vaccines and Phoenix and they aim to bring fun, jangly guitar pop to the masses with their energetic live performances.
