Dylan Brickley wants to get ‘Close To You’

April 24, 2023

Dylan Brickley is an emerging singer-songwriter from Cork. Having spent the past 10 years travelling all over Europe, Australia and Asia busking and playing music in bars, he has returned home to share his debut single ‘Close To You’.  Dylan explains the songs origins:

The song all began during the lockdown when I was living on an Island in Cambodia called Koh Rong Samloem. I was out on the balcony one evening with the guitar and the bridge of the song came about. That was the beginning. I have the song written over a year now and I’d always include it in my set when I go busking. Lots of people would ask who sings that song and I’d reply ‘its my song’ so that’s the reason I got it recorded thanks to my supporters.

Produced by Axel Vapaa at his home studio in Cork, the song has hit number one on the Irish iTunes chart since its release last week. As Dylan explains:

The message I’m trying to portray with my music is that hard times can get better over time, and if you’re going through a tough time now it can change and things can turn around. The reason for this is because I’ve been there myself and I’ve gone through difficult times but I bounced back from it so that’s the message I’d like to get out. I want to inspire others who are passionate about something that your dreams can become a reality if you put in the hard work.
