Presentation by IMRO at Houses of the Oireachtas
IMRO held an information session for members of the Houses of the Oireachtas on Wednesday, June 14th.
Chairperson Eleanor McEvoy, IMRO Directors Faye O’Rourke (songwriter / lead singer with Soda Blonde / formerly Little Green Cars) and Tom Dunne (songwriter / lead singer with Something Happens and radio broadcaster), IMRO CEO Victor Finn, and Director of Media Licensing and Public Affairs Lisa Ní Choisdealbha were in Leinster House to meet with TDs and Senators of all parties and none to update them on the work of IMRO.
A lively and informative discussion took place with the politicians on the socio-economic importance of music in Ireland and IMRO’s work on behalf of its 20,000+ members throughout Ireland and overseas. Current and proposed legislation was also discussed, as was the impact of AI and the opportunities that exist to ensure the continued provision of a vibrant, indigenous Irish music industry.
