Waterford Music Week on WLR is back for it’s 3rd year

Waterford Music Week on WLR is back for it’s 3^rd year.

WMW is an initiative that WLR’s Head of Music, Ray Colclough brought into fruition in 2021.  His goal was to showcase and support some of Waterford’s finest independent artists on-air, online, and across WLRs social media.  Waterford is no stranger to churning out singers and bands that go on to international fame over the years. Val Doonican, Brendan Boyer, and of course Gilbert O’Sullivan who’s still going strong spring to mind. Right now, we have the likes of Moncrieff who is doing huge things and how can you not mention Waterford’s biggest dance band and festival favourites, King Kong Company.

Waterford Music Week will run from Monday August 7^th – until Friday August 11^th during which time WLR will play a huge selection of Waterford Artist across all shows from Breakfast to Bed. Including the aforementioned Moncrief you will hear music from some upcoming singers and bands like Carrie Baxter, The Extranauts, 2Time Charlie, Pat Lagoon, RayaMae, Backroad Smokers Club, and Cal Pachino to name just a few.

Along with airplay the acts will feature heavily on our social media channels and hopefully from this they will reach new listeners, get followers, and hopefully get some lov€ on their Bandcamp page and any other digital download sites they use.

WLR are also hoping to bring a live show aspect to Waterford Music Week this August.
