IMRO First Cuts Showcases at Abner Brown’s feature the best up and coming as well as established Irish acts. In the intimate setting performers are given the opportunity to debut new tracks along with their current material. Performance highlights and interviews with all acts who perform are later streamed online at www.IMRO.ie and across IMRO’s social media channels. To date, showcases have featured appearances from the likes of Marc O’Reilly, Gavin James, Craig Gallagher, Ailbhe Reddy, Mark Geary, Farah Elle, Bronagh Gallagher and Orla Gartland.

Freshly formed in July of 2016, Tullamore group Chasing Abbey bring a unique pop, dance and hip-hop style to the fore. Having grown up and sharing a love of music together, Ro, Bee and TeddyC have an unparalleled charisma that culminates in an explosive live show. The band’s single “That Good Thing” topped the Irish Shazam Chart as well as becoming one of the biggest tracks on Irish radio. Most recently, the three-piece have just signed a global record deal with 3 Beat UK/Universal Music Group.

Rosa Nutty is a songwriter from Dublin. Her debut EP Bunny was released in 2015 and signaled her emergence on the Irish music scene. The focus of her music is thought-provoking lyrics delivered with dynamic vocal harmonies. Nutty’s songs seek to engage the listener by evoking a sense of shared human experience against the backdrop of a lulling electric guitar. The result is warm, simple yet sophisticated. Since the release of Bunny Nutty has supported artists such as Rozi Plain and Elephant, appeared on Newstalk’s The Green Room, RTE Radio 1’s Arena, played at festivals such as Castlepalooza, KnockanStockan, Canalaphonic and the Other Voices Music Trail.  In June 2016, along with her band, Nutty released her stand alone single, Sea Salt. More highlights from 2016 include performing at Sofar Dublin, the Café Rosenberg in Reykjavik, Iceland, and Subtierra Sounds in Shoreditch, London, as well as appearing as an interviewee at Tony Clayton-Lea’s Culture Vultures. Nutty has begun work on her second EP, due to be released in 2017.

Abner Brown’s is not only the coolest barbershop in town, it’s also one of Dublin’s most unique venues. The unlikely Rathmines venue has already seen performances from hundreds of acts such as Ash, Gavin Glass, Duke Special, David Geraghty (of Bell X1 fame), The Young Folk, Molly Sterling, Mundy, The Hot Sprockets and many more. REM’s Michael Stipe has even paid a visit.
