Dina Coughlan | Tremolo Music Publishing

Dina is co-founder of Tremolo, an independent music publisher which is home to a diverse roster of songwriters and artists. Tremolo has successfully placed songs in numerous film, TV and global ad campaigns and source opportunities for bespoke compositions and collaborations to create new material. Dina started her career in New York working as a publicist at a number of independent record labels and then segued into music supervision at the Oxygen network. Along with Tremolo, Dina continues to work as a music supervisor with recent projects including the upcoming season of ‘The Young Offenders’ and the film ‘Evil Dead Rise’ and TV series ‘The Gone’.

Johnny Lappin | Chair (MCPSI) & Company Secretary (MPAI)

Johnny Lappin is an award-winning music publisher who has published songs for many of Ireland’s top music entertainers. A founder Director of IMRO, Lappin has been at the forefront of the Irish music publishing business for more than four decades. In 1983 his clients Clannad won an Ivor Novello Award, often referred to as the Oscars for songwriters, for their “Theme from Harry’s Game” which was the first Irish language song to enter the UK’s top 5 singles chart. In 1985Clannad won a BAFTA Award for “Robin the Hooded Man”, a song taken from the hit TV series “Robin of Sherwood”, which starred Jason Connery in the title role. The series was picked up by over 130 countries worldwide.

During his 45 years in music publishing, Johnny Lappin has published the works of a multitude of writers and artists such as Aslan, Sharon Shannon, Rob Burke, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Ryan Sheridan, Otherkin, Little Hours, Wyvern Lingo and countless others including the multi award winning Andrew ‘Hozier’ Byrne.

He has overseen the publishing careers of Grammy nominated artists such as Celtic Woman as well as Ireland’s folk band of the year, The High Kings. In 2015 Lappin himself picked up an Ivor Novello Award as publisher for Hozier’s worldwide hit “Take Me To Church” and has also worked with Athy’s finest, Picture This, on their international publishing deal.

In 2019 he self-published his memoirs “In A Lifetime – From Hozier to U2” in which he details his lifetime in the music business which gave him a privileged front row seat at the extraordinary rise of the Irish music industry, as it grew from modest beginnings to become one of the major talent resources for the worldwide entertainment industry.

David Galligan | Media Licensing and Publisher Account Manager (MCPSI)

David Galligan – has been with Mechanical Copyright Protection Society Ireland (MCPSI) for close to 20 years during which time has been involved in roles such as membership, licencing record labels, production music and online.  MCPSI is an organisation which represents thousands of composers and publishers of music. By way of agency agreement with MCPS and through their reciprocal agreements with other organisations around the world, MCPSI also represents the interests of many thousands of other music copyright owners in other countries. MCPSI licenses companies and individuals who record musical works and collects and distributes the royalties payable under those licences. This service is available to anybody who wants to use recorded music including record companies, independent production companies, mobile and online companies and many others. MCPSI also licenses the importation of recordings from outside of the EU.

Ian Hennessy | Crashed Music

Ian Hennessy has worked in the music business for twenty-five years. Ian has worked in a variety of areas of the music business including music retail, live music and concert promotion, management, sync and record and music publishing. Working with Crashed Music & Records recording artists and songwriters he has gained a vast amount of experience and has taken a particular interest in publishing and all copyright related matters. Ian, as executive director, has guided and managed Crashed Music going into their fifth decade in business. Crashed Music publish a large Irish music catalogue including works by established and emerging songwriters as well as administering the publishing for a number of other catalogues. Ian has a degree in Information Systems and Information Technology and is keen to monitor how new technologies can continue to influence and shape the music business of the future. Ian is also a director of the Music Publishers Association of Ireland (MPAI) and the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society.
