Lisa McHugh Releases ‘Watch Me’

Lisa McHugh is back with a brand new single ‘Watch Me’ out today August 9th. This is the follow up single to her last hit single ‘Country Mile’ released at the start of the summer.

Written when Lisa spent time in Nashville and met with a like-minded Australian singer and song-writer, Katrina Burgoyne. Both in Nashville chasing their dreams and eating up the rich music culture that the city has to offer. They hit it off straight away and the song grew from sharing their experiences of the highs and lows that comes with chasing the dream!

‘Watch Me’ is her song of defiance and never giving up on her dream!

Lisa says of the song ….“Throughout my career, I have been told countless times the word ‘No’.  I have been pushed around and taken advantage of by many in the industry over the years. When I was younger, I took it very personally but over time I have grown a thicker skin and most importantly I used their negativity in a positive way and became even more determined to prove all of them wrong!”

Lisa’s time in Nashville has had a huge influence on her sound and song-writing and is delighted with the results of her time spent there. Lisa will be taking to the road later this year, keep any on all things Lisa across her social media accounts.

Peco Releases ‘Harpoon’

The latest single from Peco, ‘Harpoon’, is full of swagger and attitude and has a definite summer vibe to it. It combines a funk rhythm section with sharp Clash like guitar stabs and soulful rock melody that will move right into your ear and refuse to leave. Underneath the summer vibes however the subject matter is dark and gritty. The narrator is suffering the consequences of too many years of lost weekends and finds himself at a turning point.

This is the third single to be lifted from Peco’s debut album ‘The Middle Ages’ which was released in February. To date the first two singles ‘Monster’ and ‘Let The Credits Roll’ have received the following accolades along with airplay from almost all regional stations to date.

Peco has confirmed an acoustic show for Aug 23rd in Luna Lounge – London with more UK dates to follow along with an acoustic tour this coming winter of Ireland.

Shane Fallon Releases ‘Stuck Inside This Rhythm’

Shane (Tex) Fallon is treating us all to a cracker of a summer song in the form of ‘Stuck Inside This Rhythm’. It’s a top tune, and the accompanying video gives us an insight into Shane’s hidden acting talents also!

Shane’s voice is possibly the best-known instrument within his band, The Shoos, and while the band is planning on going back into studio later this summer, The Shoos front man was eager to bring us this gem from his solo work. It’s infectious.

While working on this song, Shane and his wife also added to their family with their second baby, a boy born in June.

Shane is not one for single tasking. In addition to his solo music work, Shane is also a business man running his successful Dublin2Bike business on Erne Street for a number of years and his biggest gig of all to date, Shane adores being dad to his two babas, Sophie (1 year, 2mths) and James (2 mths)! Who said, personal, creative and logic couldn’t mix!

Shane packs ‘Stuck Inside This Rhythm’ with similar energy he gives to all his records and live performances. It’s a stomper of a track, and he hopes you get ‘Stuck Inside This Rhythm’ also!

As a band, The Shoos has impressed many industry heavy weights through the years. This admiration was cemented by many of these inviting the band to guest on their live shows, including One Republic, Maroon 5, Life House & Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters). Indeed, on the release of the band’s last long play, 2016’s self-titled The Shoos, the band was asked to guest with Jeff Lynne at his 3Arena show in Dublin, just a few weeks later. This guest slot was quickly followed by an invitation directly from Jeff Lynne and his management to play his home town show at Birmingham Arena later the same summer.

Gráinne Hunt Announces Debut Album and Latest Single

“Please don’t mess up, please don’t mess up,” Gráinne Hunt repeated to herself in a Nashville studio last autumn. The Monaghan native was in town to record her soon-to-be-released album ‘This Secret’ with veteran Nashville musicians, and as it turns out, she needn’t have worried. In the end, the whirlwind session, which saw Hunt record eleven tracks in just under three days “just felt really easy,” she muses. “I’d never recorded like that before, but it was an incredible way to do it – and a lovely way to catch a snapshot of a moment in time.

The album, Hunt’s first full-length LP, is a long time coming. “I’ve been working on these songs for ages, but it was only recently that I had time to record it!” It has certainly been a busy few years for the singer. After completing a degree in Music at NUI Maynooth, she jumped full-force into the Dublin music scene, where she gained a reputation as an outstanding vocalist, touring internationally with Mark Geary and Kíla, and sharing stages with Glen Hansard, Liam Ó Maonlaí and Damien Dempsey. Then there was her first solo release, 2015’s ‘Firing Pin’, an EP co-written with James Cramer which garnered its own share of acclaim, with critics calling it “breathtakingly beautiful” (Dan Hegarty, 2FM) and a release “hewn out of a subtle, special talent” (Tony Clayton Lea, Irish Times). 2019 brought still another album, when she joined forces with fellow NUI Maynooth classmate Brendan Walsh to release ‘Songs from Ireland’, a collection of traditional songs performed in Irish and English. The crowd-funded album met its goal less than a week into the campaign, and led to sold out gigs at The Cobblestone in Dublin, and Kilkishen Cultural Centre, amongst others.

Throughout this period, Hunt continued to tour new material, leading to an impressive array of solo shows, including two nights opening for Gladys Knight at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre, Eagle Eye Cherry, and a festival appearance at Glastonbury.

The time it took to hone the songs that would make up ‘This Secret’ was clearly well spent, however. On each track the confident mastery of Hunt’s vocals belies the tumultuous experiences that inform her lyrics. Lead single Breathe describes the decision to give “someone enough freedom to bring about their own downfall, through their own foolish actions” while fighting the instinct to save them. The song has already garnered airplay on RTÉ Radio 1, KCLR, and Radio Nova, with Radio 1’s Ruth Smith calling it “really true” with “beautiful vocals,” and Fiachna Ó Braonáin exclaiming, “What a beauty!”

Hunt’s next single, ‘Let Go’, will premier September 6th, with ‘This Secret’ scheduled for release September 20th. A full national tour is planned, with international dates to follow.

Ireland Music Week 2019 Artist Line-up Announced

Ireland Music Week are delighted to announce the 50 acts that will showcase at IMW19 as just revealed on the Tracy Clifford Show, RTÉ 2FM, the festival’s media partner.

https://www.irelandmusicweek.com/showcasing-artists-2019 and below.

The festival made the annual call in May for artists to apply and over 500 acts applied via First Music Contact’s platform Breaking Tunes and were chosen independently by both international and Irish music industry professionals.

Ireland Music Week places a strong focus on export-ready artists and the success rate year on year from the showcases has been remarkable.

The overwhelming feedback from our 8 Irish and over 30 International judges was the level of competition in this year’s applications. Year on year our judges remark on the quality of Irish bands in a global and not just local context. That is beyond encouraging to hear especially for all those who applied as well as the 50 who will showcase in October “ Angela Dorgan, CEO FMC

Joe S Shares ‘The Mountain’ Video

Joe S is the Portlaoise based anti-folk artist and on Wednesday 7th August released a very special music video for his current single ‘The Mountain’.

The video was filmed in the stunning Emo Court with the Midland’s ISL (Irish Sign Language) Learners Choir who translated the lyrics into beautiful signs.

Joe’s aim with the video is to bring music to those who couldn’t otherwise enjoy it due to hearing difficulties or deafness.

One of his greatest fears is losing his hearing and Joe S himself has hearing problems so it’s something that’s very close to his heart.

With the help of Midlands ISL Learners Choir, they’ve made a music video that can be enjoyed by all, including the hearing impaired.

The song itself was written about the day Joe proposed to his then girlfriend on top of Mt Vesuvius in Italy and is a departure from his usual politically themed songs!

Hopefully this video will give the Midlands ISL Learners Choir the recognition they deserve for the wonderful work they do.

The video aired officially on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube at 6pm yesterday Wednesday 7th August.

Moylan Releases ‘Infinity’

Moylan is a Dublin based singer-songwriter from Waterford, Ireland. In recent years Moylan has been making waves in the Irish music scene with stunning performances on the Voice of Ireland 2016, appearances in Irish festivals (Electric Picnic, Imagine Arts Festival, IMBOLC festival, Comeraghs Wild Festival) and striking headline shows in Dublin, Dungarvan and Carrick-On-Suir. She is known for her distinct Celtic tones and unwavering vocal control. In 2019 she was signed by Beardfire Studio and Label and since then, she has released her debut EP ‘For The Birds’ along with a quirky music video in which the main character happens to be a mop! Since entering the world of recorded music, Moylan has been noticed by the likes of Remy, Nialler9 and TLMT, and she has performed on RTÉ Radio1 with Miriam O’ Callaghan and RTE Pulse.

Now Moylan presents us with a fresh electronic track- ‘Infinity’. This cover of ‘Infinity ‘by Infinity Ink is a tropical tune, teeming with island vibes. The vocal riff that runs throughout is the tide that rises and falls unnoticed, as the other elements come and go like the gentle sea breeze. Her ethereal vocals are equally haunting and captivating and we are left wanting more. Moylan’s live performances often include use of a loop pedal which is used to loop voice only, creating a hypnotic effect. This is where the inspiration for this track originates.

This track was recorded and produced by Adam Redmond of Flaked Studios. It was mastered by Marcin of Diffusion Lab.
