Since their launch in 2008, the IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year Awards have recognised the passion, creativity, and commitment of those behind Ireland’s vibrant live music scene. These awards honour the venues and festivals that consistently deliver outstanding live music experiences to audiences across the country — week in, week out.
Each year, IMRO members consider hundreds of live music venues and festivals nationwide for the shortlist. Nominees are assessed on key criteria including:
- Atmosphere
- Sound and lighting quality
- Staging
- Diversity of programming
- Professionalism of staff and management
Following the member shortlisting process, members of the public are invited to cast their vote for the IMRO National Live Music Venue of the Year, making the awards a true reflection of both industry and audience perspectives.

They provide a platform for homegrown and international artists to connect with audiences, develop their craft, and build loyal fanbases.
