Following the critically acclaimed debut EP Karma, Irish sister duo Zeztra return with a bold, electrifying new single: ‘Sugar Rush‘, out Today, May 22nd.
Laced with shimmering synths, pulsing basslines, and blood harmonies that have become Zeztra’s signature, ‘Sugar Rush’ is a high-octane anthem of infatuation and emotional chaos. The song channels the euphoria and volatility of desire — that moment where sweetness turns volatile, and obsession takes the wheel.
The two describe their new single as “chaotic and colourful, just like a sugar high“.
Since forming, Zeztra, made up of Dublin-born sisters Avril and Lorna Meade, have made waves in Ireland and beyond. Their genre-blurring sound and undeniable live presence have seen them support Maverick Sabre across the UK and US, including shows at Brixton Academy and Rough Trade NYC, as well as a powerful run with Damien Dempsey at Vicar Street. The duo play two festivals in Ireland this summer, firstly at “Beyond The Pale” in Glendalough Estate in Wicklow on the weekend of June 12th to 14th, and “Kaleidoscope” in the Glenveagh Estate in Wicklow on the weekend of July 3rd to 5th.
Last year, Zeztra appeared on BBC Radio London with Gaby Roslin, who said: “I’m in love with them. I can’t tell you how much I loved that. The energy is electric.” They’ve also graced the stage of Dublin’s Ruby Sessions, joining a legacy of breakout acts and international names.
