The Swings Release New Single ‘What’s It Gonna Take’

Dublin band The Swings are set to release their highly anticipated new single ‘What’s It Gonna Take’ on April 24th. Following the release of their Debut EP ‘Lost In Us’ last year, the young four-piece band who have been compared to The Strypes, went on to support Aslan during some of their sold out gigs.
Now singer Leon Cullen McLoughlin, 19, Ben MCluskey, 18, bassist, Kyle Doherty, 19, lead guitarist, and Cian Quinlan, 18, drummer, are back with their infectious guitar driven single ‘What’s It Gonna Take’ which is out on April 24 and centres around life’s difficult life decisions.
Speaking about how the song came about, singer Leon said: “When I wrote “What”s It Gonna Take”, I was going through a really strange time of my life. I had just finished school and I was trying to decide whether to go down the college route, start a trade, or just go with the music. It’s a big decision and it’s a choice I put myself under a lot of pressure to make.”
“I think you can really feel that tension, and fear of some sorts when you listen to the song. “That moment of catching yourself questioning everything that you do is the whole idea of the song I suppose. “It’s nearly like a conversation with yourself in your head, where you’re asking yourself, am I really cut out to do what I want to do?”
The Swings are one of Ireland’s fastest rising bands, gaining recognition from various names in the music industry such as radio host Stephen Daly, legendary bands such as Aslan and many more.
Following the release of their Debut EP ‘Lost In Us’, the band are only getting better and more experienced through playing support at huge gigs in venues like Vicar St. and Malahide Castle.
The Swings are one of the most exciting young bands around at the minute, and you can tell as soon as they take the stage. The very moment the four musicians walk out you can feel the energy and electricity in the room.
That being said, the band also have a soft side to them, with unreleased songs that truly do pull on the heartstrings of every member of the audience.
