It doesn’t happen very often, but every now and again an emerging band are given a big break.
White Chalk were contacted last October by Rea Garvey who is originally from Tralee but moved to Germany over 20 years ago to pursue his musical career. Rea is now a very big star in Germany and invited White Chalk to be the main support on his arena tour of Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
The venues were amazing with crowds of over 5,000 each night and some venues were over 8,000 people. For White Chalk this was incredible. Red Hot Management who represents White Chalk organized the entire tour of 4 weeks and travelled with the band on their 12-berth sleeper coach.
The band was blown away by the response of the German crowds and after each show the band were selling between 300-400 CD’s each night, which was incredible for an original music band.
A number of record companies and publishers have been in contact with Red Hot Management following their tour and big things are on the horizon for White Chalk.
Before the band head to the UK to support one of Irelands biggest bands Kodaline for 4 of their sold out shows in Nottingham, Norwich, Bristol and Southampton, they will be performing in Danny Byrne’s Mullingar on Friday 6th March at 10pm. Free admission.
White Chalk are certainly one’s to watch for 2015.
