Dublin-based artist and producer Walshy starts the year with a bang, releasing his most chaotic single yet, Fight Club, featuring the nation’s favourite rapper, Curtisy.

This fast-paced, hip-hop-infused track pairs infectious humor with sharp commentary, blending high-energy production with a playful critique of modern trends. Inspired by a voice note Walshy sent into a groupchat, Fight Club takes aim at recent “toxic masculinity/podcast-bro” trends, poking fun at the wave of gym-obsessed, cold-shower advocates flooding social media with repetitive self-improvement mantras.

The hook captures this tongue-in-cheek tone perfectly: “If you wanna accomplish anything in your life, you’ll have to watch the film, Fight Club, at least six times.”

Walshy’s production shines, featuring an uptempo boom-bap beat layered with shimmering guitars by longtime collaborator Adam Rock, underscored by a driving static lower tone. The track’s chorus—sang by a full gospel choir—soars with infectious energy, while Walshy’s lush vocal effects evoke a vast, stadium-like reverb reminiscent of Oasis.

Adding to the track’s unpredictable charm, Curtisy delivers a rapid-fire verse between choruses, amplifying the chaos and fun. Having performed Fight Club live together on numerous occasions, Walshy and Curtisy are thrilled to finally release the track to a wider audience. This marks the duo’s second collaboration following their hit mm mm good (in the cellar), from Curtisy’s RTE Choice Prize-nominated album What Was the Question.

Known for his vibrant, abstract hip-hop and punk-inspired live performances, Curtisy brings a raw edge to Fight Club that perfectly complements Walshy’s playful energy. Fight Club is a standalone single, setting a light-hearted and joy-filled tone for the year ahead, with plenty more Walshy releases planned for 2025.
