Irish-Nigerian artist Toshín releases a commanding new single, “Resist,” out now — a stirring reinterpretation of a song gifted to her directly by legendary singer-songwriter Janis Ian.

Originally written as a protest against the oppression of women, from genital mutilation to workplace inequality and body policing, “Resist” blends spoken word and soulful defiance. Now, Toshín reclaims the song with full-band energy and a fiery new voice, transforming it into an anthem for today’s fight against injustice

I will not disappear.”

This line, delivered with gut-punching force in both versions, becomes a rallying cry in Toshín’s hands. With her signature fusion of soul, R&B, Afro-pop, and theatrical storytelling, she breathes new life into Ian’s message, empowering a new generation to stand tall, speak out, and never shrink down.
