The Tipperary International Song of Peace Contest is making a much-anticipated return in Spring 2025 after a six-year hiatus. Last held in 2018, the contest invites songwriters from around the world to compose songs centred on the theme of peace. Submissions are now open, with a closing date of January 15, 2025.

Organisers welcome entries that reflect peace in its many forms, including themes of love, faith, joy, hope, and harmony – or anything that evokes a “Sense of Peace.” Entry forms can be requested by email at tipppeace@nullgmail.com or via the Tipperary Song of Peace Facebook page.

The contest’s last winners in 2018 were Galway and Dublin-based duo Karen Cross and Rob Martin, whose song “Oceans of Peace” took the top prize. The Mick Tuohy Perpetual Cup for Best Irish Entry went to Tipperary’s own Sophie Bartlett and Ciarán Coffey for their song “Doesn’t have to be a Dream.”

While it remains undecided whether the School Peace Choir competition will return alongside the Song of Peace Contest, Martin Quinn, Hon. Secretary of the Tipperary Peace Convention, is enthusiastic about the contest’s revival.

“The Song of Peace Contest was always a great event, attracting contestants from around the globe who cherish fond memories of their time in Tipperary. With several entries already submitted for 2025, I encourage songwriters everywhere to participate. The world needs more messages of peace, and what better way to share them than through song,” said Quinn.

Aspiring contestants are reminded to submit their entries before the January 15th deadline. For more information, contact tipppeace@nullgmail.com or visit the Tipperary Song of Peace Facebook page.
