The Saw Doctors start 2025 with a brand new single ‘Quicksand’, set to be released on January 10th.
Quicksand is a song by Paul Cunniffe who back in 1980 formed the punk band Blaze X in Tuam with Davy Carton of The Saw Doctors. Paul also co-wrote The Saw Doctors No. 1 record ‘I Useta Lover’ with Davy Carton, Leo Moran and Padraig Stevens. Paul, who sadly passed away in London in 2001, wrote “Quicksand’ for his daughter Paula.
The cover image is a photo that Davy Carton’s mum Mary took in 1980 in Davy’s bedroom in Tuam after Paul Cunniffe and Davy bought new ’strides’ for a Blaze X gig supporting U2 in Leisureland, Galway.
Quicksand follows last years successful singles ‘Man in the Moon’ and ‘I Love To Go Awanderin’’, and was recorded in Grouse Lodge Studios last October with Philip Tennant as producer.
The Saw Doctors will play two big Irish shows next summer: Cork Virgin Media Park on June 14 and Fairview Park, Dublin on June 28.
The band has also been invited to play the Isle of Wight Festival Main Stage on Saturday June 21.
