The Jocelyn Sessions with Video Blue

September 30, 2022

The Jocelyn Sessions is a musical collaboration between Dundalk-based menswear brand ilk and artists that inspire them.

Recorded in ilk’s studio on Jocelyn Street in Dundalk, The Jocelyn Sessions is an opportunity for both to reach new audiences and grow the ilk family.

The first of The Jocelyn Sessions is with Dundalk native, and long-term friend of the brand, Jom O’Donoghue Martin, who performs his new single ‘Weatherspeak’ under the name Video Blue.

Embracing wistful guitars and melancholic synths that recall New Order’s reflective pop, and the lyrical honestly of Kae Tempest or Baxter Dury, Video Blue’s brand of contemplative alt-pop deals in unfulfilled ambitions, nostalgic tendencies, and the pull of home.

ilk focus on making Irish menswear that’s ethically made and built to last. Collaboration has been a strong focus of ilk since they first launched in 2019. Having made a shoe with the legendary Padmore & Barnes and working with Irish photographer Rosie, The Jocelyn Sessions is their first music partnership.

”Irresistible vocal… favourite new track this week by a country mile” Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music, on ‘What Have You Got’

”One man armed with a guitar and a bunch of beats, he’s got a very fine handle on how to turn both parts of his musical personality into a bundle of captivating, occasionally giddy and always impressive leftfield pop gems.” – Jim Carroll, The Irish Times
