Mullingar power rock-pop four piece, The Blizzards – Niall Breslin aka (Bressie) (Guitar / Lead Vocals), Louize Carroll (Bass), Justin Ryan (Lead Guitar) and Dec Murphy (Drums) – are stronger, more passionate and energised than ever and are ready to share it with the world.
The band used their time in lockdown to explore their music and work on really defining their sound. Honing their melodic, dynamic hooks and crafting their pop guitar-driven song-writing. A true reflection of their musical identity in 2022. Their latest album ‘Sometimes We See More in the Dark’ features the singles ‘Friction Burns’, Trigger Me’ and ‘Play God’ and showcases their strongest sound and writing since the bands formation. The three singles released are accompanied by equally stunning videos, the bands ethos to work with local Mullingar creative outlets and locations shines through their videos and production.
This weekend, The Blizzards take to the IMRO Stage at Indiependence. We spoke to frontman Bressie ahead of their headline performance on Saturday night;
Is this your first time playing at INDIE?
We have played Indie many times and in fact, when they ran the festival in the town square when it first started we played the festival. It was clear from an early stage the festival was going to grow.
When can people see you on the IMRO Stage?
We are on 8.30pm on Saturday night on the IMRO stage.
What should we expect?
We have always thrived most on the festival stage. It suits our sound and energy. There is an element of controlled chaos to festival shows which suits our band down to the ground. A nice hour of face melty power pop where we forget about the world from an hour
Which of the other acts are you hoping to catch live this weekend?
Looking forward to Tolu Makay, just on before us, and hopefully we get a bit of The Scratch and The Academic in.
What’s next for you?
We have new single ‘Great Party (You Are Not Invited)’ out in few months along with an acoustic theatre tour, release of the new album on Vinyl and a few other bits.
