Written specifically for The High Kings by Glen Power and Danny O’Donoghue (The Script) ‘Chasing Rainbows’, is a modern-day Irish folk anthem, paying tribute to the iconic pubs of Ireland. This song perfectly captures the essence of what makes all that happens in an Irish pub so special. ‘Chasing Rainbows’ is the culmination of two talented bands coming together to create musical magic. This collaborative effort brings together the best of both worlds, resulting in a song that jumps off the speakers with its irresistible melody, clever lyrics, and masterful musicianship. Ahead of The High King’s first world tour and having just completed the largest sold-out Irish tour of their career to date, ‘Chasing Rainbows’ is sure to have you tapping your toes and singing along, making it the perfect soundtrack for a night out or a solo session at the bar. As a tribute to the heroes in their own lives Danny O’Donoghue and Glen Power have both credited the writing of the song to their late fathers. Glen Power (The Script): “Our fathers’ believed there was no greater joy than having the craic, playing music and being surrounded by the friends and family you loved, so we decided that as a tribute to them, Gary (Power) and Shay (O’Donoghue) we would eternally bind them to a song which embodies all of that, and so we listed them as co-writers on Chasing Rainbows. And now, whenever anyone goes ‘Chasing Rainbows’, or hears the song, they’ll be raising a toast to our dads.” Speaking about ‘Chasing Rainbows’ Darren Holden (The High Kings) said: “Going out is part of the DNA of Irish culture, and to go ‘Chasing Rainbows’ is to chase down the craic, or chase down the laughs. Basically to just go out and have some fun. And that is what we set out to do with this song, get people back out having fun with the people and the music they love!” Glen Power (The Script) said: “This song describes one of those unforgettable weekends out in Ireland. When we sat down to write it, we decided to include a lot of the pubs we have drank in and performed in during our early years as musicians.
