Set on the 77A bus, “77A” tells the story of how Darren from The High Kings met his childhood sweetheart in one of life’s simpler moments, a brief encounter that would shape everything to come. Brought to life by their signature blend of upbeat melodies, this folk anthem captures the spark of young love with warmth and charm.

Rooted in classic folk storytelling The High Kings are known for, “77A” is a tribute to the kind of love that begins quietly but never fades.

Speaking about 77A Darren Holden said: “77A” is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written. It’s about a simple, unexpected moment that ended up changing the course of my life. All these years later, with three amazing kids and a life full of love, we’ve held onto the joy that started it all. Writing this song was like stepping back into that moment – it reminded me how powerful those chance encounters can be.”

The High Kings continue to go from strength to strength, having just completed their biggest-ever tour of the USA, playing to their largest-ever audiences to date.

“77A” marks an exciting new chapter for The High Kings as they embark on their 9th studio album. Their previous album, “The Road Not Taken,” achieved over 14 million streams in just one year, reaching the number one position for independent albums in Ireland, number one in Folk, number two across all genres, and number two in singer-songwriter in the USA.

Additionally, it topped charts as the number one bestseller on Amazon Germany and number one on iTunes in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, along with a selection of top-five chart positions worldwide.

The last year also saw the bands own success complemented by groundbreaking collaborations, including a stirring duet with Journey frontman and icon Steve Perry on The Streets of Kinsale as well as a powerful stadium performance of their Notre Dame anthem Glorio For Notre Dame with Jon Batiste, for 30,000 fans.

“77a” is available now across all major streaming platforms.
