The 4 of Us Release Crescent Nights, the Title Track of their New Album, as their Latest Single
The 4 of Us are one of the most acclaimed bands in Ireland, having been a steadfast part of Irish music history for over 30 years. Blending contemporary roots with rock, the award- winning band was formed by brothers Brendan and Declan Murphy from the border town of Newry in Northern Ireland.
The band shot to early fame towards the end of 1989 with their debut album, Songs for the Tempted, which featured the massive hits Mary and Drag My Bad Name Down. Their truly unique sound has garnered a large and loyal fan base and an enviable catalogue of timeless songs, including numerous Top 20 Irish charting albums and hit singles. Regulars on Irish radio playlists, their music has also been featured on American, UK, and Irish TV and film soundtracks.
Speaking about how their new single, “Crescent Nights”, was written Brendan says: “In the troubled backdrop of 1980s Belfast, our college experience was shaped by the unique atmosphere of a city under the watchful eye of security forces. Each evening, the city centre transformed into a fortress, locking us out and confining our social escapades to the lively vicinity of Queen’s University. Nestled on the corner of Sandy Row was The Crescent Bar, a hangout that quickly became a rite of passage for countless students.
This lively spot served as our sanctuary, despite the city’s constraints. After a night spent there, our quest for adventure would often lead us to house parties in the nearby Holy Land. All we needed to do was follow the pulsating beat of loud music drifting through the streets, guiding us to the next gathering where friendships blossomed, and memories were made. The thrill of those nights—filled with youthful exuberance and a sense of freedom—defined an era for us, creating bonds that would last a lifetime.”
