SWELTR to Drop Explosive New Single “PSYCHA” on Halloween
Dublin’s DIY rock duo, SWELTR, are gearing up to release their heaviest track yet – Psycha. Arriving on Halloween, 31st October 2024, the release marks exactly two years since the band’s debut single, What’s It Gonna Be?, hit the scene. This new track deep dives into the chaos and grind of everyday struggles, blending experiences with raw and chaotic energy.
Psycha is a reflection on our own inescapable mentality, either good or bad. It is a common decency and pain shared by us all and what makes us all familiar. However, some things seem all too familiar, and the ability to rationalise one’s own feelings becomes lost. SWELTR have created a song about such mindset, the boys vent and express the themes of someone going through the mundane, and of course the psychotic.
The song’s explosive introduction hits hard with manic energy, screeching feedback and thundering drums set the stage for the mental unrest that follows and perhaps the beginning of the mental ache. “I feel it again,” Tony sings, as if to state this is a common place for him. Motioning through the lyrics as if to offer a step by step guide on recognising the signs, and coping strategies.
As the verses unfold, the lads strike a delicate balance, taking time to confront the confusion and embrace the messiness of self-discovery. Maintaining a level of self understanding and patience, taking time to understand one’s own situation and moral standing. Tony’s grunge-infused vocals walk us through this turmoil, with lyrics like “Don’t got it? Go get it, before it’s gone” highlighting the rush to move before the moment fades.
The chorus can be seen in a different light and breaks down into a frenzy with harsh screams, ear bursting drums, and intense heavy guitar that echo the sense of a mental fracture, portraying the cracks on the road to self assurance. Lines like “Shame to me” expose the vulnerability of doubt and indecision.
Psycha is a song that doesn’t hold back, diving headfirst into the chaos of the human psyche. SWELTR’s sound is louder, grittier, and more unfiltered than ever, inviting the listener to embrace the noise and reflect on their own journey through the turmoil.
