Five-piece indie-folk band Sulk Hogan released their second single, ‘Dog’, on 9 August 2026, further cementing their reputation as ones to watch in Ireland’s growing indie scene.

The Galway-based group draw on influences such as Big Thief, CMAT and Courtney Barnett, crafting melodies that explore growing up in post-Celtic Tiger Ireland. The group have created a sound that feels distinctly their own, while carrying a familiarity rooted in the realities of Irish experience. Through themes of queerness, Catholic Ireland, and the country’s current political landscape, Sulk Hogan have developed a voice that is unafraid to confront difficult truths.
‘Dog’ opens with Muireann Hogan’s swooning vocals and shimmering guitar before building into a beautifully layered chorus. Originally formed as a folk duo by co-writers Muireann Hogan and Rosie Connelly, Sulk Hogan’s roots are clear in the song’s lyrical depth. Melancholy, self-doubt and a longing for reassurance sit beneath a two-step tempo and catchy melody, creating a marriage between emotional weight and musical relief.
After a busy summer of gigging, Sulk Hogan are preparing tracks for their debut EP.
